For dem er korset et symbol p\u00e5 lidelse, d\u00f8d og skam. Det st\u00e5r i Bibelen, at den, der h\u00e6nger p\u00e5 korset, er forbandet af Gud (5. Mosebog 21:23). De tilf\u00f8jer: Hvis nogen dr\u00e6ber en, vi holder af, \u00e6rer vi s\u00e5 det v\u00e6rkt\u00f8j, som han blev dr\u00e6bt med?<\/p>\n<p>Kirken har st\u00e5et over for dette problem fra begyndelsen. Sankt Paulus siger i sit f\u00f8rste brev til korintherne: &quot;For ordet om korset er d\u00e5rskab for dem, der g\u00e5r fortabt, men for os, som bliver frelst, er det Guds kraft&quot; (1:32).<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>Hvad ang\u00e5r evangelisten Johannes, var korset for ham ikke l\u00e6ngere blot smerte og ydmygelse, men blev snarere et symbol p\u00e5 Guds herlighed Kristus beskriver hans opstigning p\u00e5 korset som oph\u00f8jelse, herlighed og sejr over synd og d\u00f8d, og med korset vil han rejse menneskeheden til sin Fader: &quot;Men Jesus svarede dem og sagde: Tiden er kommet, da Menneskes\u00f8nnen skal herligg\u00f8res.&quot; Sandelig, sandelig siger jeg jer: Hvis ikke et hvedekorn falder i jorden og d\u00f8r, forbliver det alene. Men hvis det d\u00f8r, b\u00e6rer det megen frugt... Og hvis jeg bliver l\u00f8ftet op fra jorden, vil jeg tr\u00e6kke alle mennesker til mig. Dette sagde han for at vise hvilken d\u00f8d han var ved at d\u00f8\u201d (Joh 12:24-33).<\/p>\n<p>Kirkens \u00e6rb\u00f8dighed for korset skyldes ikke kun, at &quot;Kristi legeme helligede korsets tr\u00e6&quot; - if\u00f8lge den hellige Johannes af Damaskus&#039; udtryk - men fordi med Kristi d\u00f8d p\u00e5 korset begyndte frelsesprocessen og korset blev et symbol p\u00e5 frelse. Kristi d\u00f8d p\u00e5 korset betyder d\u00f8den og opstandelsen af den gamle verden og begyndelsen p\u00e5 den nye forvandlingstid. Gennem korset skete der forsoning mellem mennesket og Gud: \u201dDa han med sit legeme oph\u00e6vede budlovene i vedt\u00e6gter, for at han i sig selv kunne skabe \u00e9t nyt menneske, stifte fred og forsone de to i \u00e9t legeme med Gud ved kors og dr\u00e6bte fjendskabet deri\u201d (Ef 2:15-16).<\/p>\n<p>I \u00c5benbaringens Bog er der en forening mellem martyrerne og Kristus: &quot;Deres lig skal ligge p\u00e5 gaden i den store by, som \u00e5ndeligt kaldes Sodoma og \u00c6gypten, hvor ogs\u00e5 vor Herre blev korsf\u00e6stet&quot; (\u00c5b 11:8). Dette er, hvad Kristus beder alle sine k\u00e6re om: &quot;Den, der vil f\u00f8lge efter mig, skal tage sit kors op og f\u00f8lge mig&quot; (Matt 16:24). Korset, som den kristne b\u00e6rer, er et tegn p\u00e5 hans opgivelse af synd, og samtidig er korset et tegn p\u00e5 herlighed og \u00e6re for ham: \u201dHvis nogen tjener mig, s\u00e5 lad ham f\u00f8lge mig, og hvor jeg er, der er min tjener vil ogs\u00e5 v\u00e6re, og hvis nogen tjener mig, skal Faderen \u00e6re ham\u201d (Joh 12:26).<\/p>\n<p>Kirken har udtrykt korsets betydning i dens liv og i alle troendes liv. Korset blev kilden til evigt liv, martyrernes herlighed og en frelseshavn Gennem det blev Satan rystet, og synden blev udslettet. I vesperb\u00f8nnen til Korsh\u00f8jtidens h\u00f8jtid l\u00e6ser vi: \u201dGl\u00e6d dig, o kors, som b\u00e6rer liv, paradisets d\u00f8r, de troendes standhaftighed og kirkens mur, gennem hvilken ford\u00e6rvelsen er forsvundet og afskaffet, d\u00f8dens magt er opslugt, og vi bliver oprejst fra jorden til de himmelske steder. Du er v\u00e5benet, der ikke kan bek\u00e6mpes og modst\u00e5 dj\u00e6vle, da du er martyrernes og de retf\u00e6rdiges herlighed... og frelsens havn, der sk\u00e6nker verden den st\u00f8rste
