Her understreger Kristus, som i mange vers fra Johannesevangeliet, at det evige liv er begyndt, og ikke er noget fremtid, man venter. Den, der lever med Gud i dette jordiske liv, lever fortsat i Gud og med Gud - uden afbrydelse - i det evige liv.
