Vetus Testamentum in Novo patet \u00bb (Le Nouveau Testament est l&#039;accomplissement de l&#039;Ancien Testament). J\u00e9sus-Christ est le Messie dont ont parl\u00e9 les proph\u00e8tes. Dans ce document, toutes les promesses et attentes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 remplies. La loi et l&#039;\u00c9vangile sont compatibles. Personne ne peut pr\u00e9tendre \u00eatre un v\u00e9ritable disciple de Mo\u00efse \u00e0 moins de croire que J\u00e9sus est le Seigneur. Quiconque ne r\u00e9alise pas que J\u00e9sus est le Messie, l&#039;Oint du Seigneur, trahit l&#039;ancienne loi elle-m\u00eame. Seule l\u2019\u00c9glise du Christ d\u00e9tient d\u00e9sormais la v\u00e9ritable cl\u00e9 de la Bible, la v\u00e9ritable cl\u00e9 des anciennes proph\u00e9ties. Parce que toutes ces proph\u00e9ties ont \u00e9t\u00e9 accomplies par Christ. <br \/>Saint Justin rejette l\u2019id\u00e9e selon laquelle l\u2019Ancien Testament constituerait un lien entre l\u2019\u00c9glise et le Temple juif. Pour lui, c\u2019est le contraire. Les revendications juives doivent \u00eatre syst\u00e9matiquement rejet\u00e9es. L\u2019Ancien Testament n\u2019appartient plus aux Juifs, mais appartient plut\u00f4t \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9glise seule, et donc l\u2019\u00c9glise du Christ est le seul v\u00e9ritable Isra\u00ebl de Dieu. L\u2019Isra\u00ebl antique n\u2019\u00e9tait qu\u2019une \u00e9glise sous-d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e. Selon son usage dans l&#039;\u00c9glise de la premi\u00e8re p\u00e9riode, le mot \u00ab \u00e9critures \u00bb lui-m\u00eame signifiait avant tout l&#039;Ancien Testament, et dans ce sens il est clairement utilis\u00e9 dans le Credo \u00ab tel qu&#039;il est dit dans les \u00c9critures \u00bb, c&#039;est-\u00e0-dire selon les proph\u00e9ties et les promesses de l&#039;ancienne loi.<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">L&#039;unit\u00e9 de la Bible<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les premiers auteurs citent abondamment l\u2019Ancien Testament. M\u00eame pour les Gentils, le message du salut a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 dans le cadre de l&#039;Ancien Testament. C\u2019est un argument depuis l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9. Le Christ n&#039;a pas aboli l&#039;Ancien Testament, mais il l&#039;a renouvel\u00e9 et compl\u00e9t\u00e9. En ce sens, le christianisme n\u2019\u00e9tait pas une nouvelle religion. Les nouveaux livres chr\u00e9tiens furent simplement combin\u00e9s avec le livre juif h\u00e9rit\u00e9 comme compl\u00e9ment organique. Seul l\u2019\u00c9vangile tout entier, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire les deux Testaments r\u00e9unis, \u00e9tait consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme un r\u00e9cit complet de la r\u00e9v\u00e9lation chr\u00e9tienne. Il n&#039;y a pas de rupture entre les deux Testaments, mais plut\u00f4t une unit\u00e9 de dessein divin. La premi\u00e8re t\u00e2che de la th\u00e9ologie chr\u00e9tienne fut de montrer et d&#039;expliquer comment la loi ancienne \u00e9tait une pr\u00e9paration et une anticipation de la r\u00e9v\u00e9lation finale de Dieu en J\u00e9sus-Christ. Le message chr\u00e9tien n&#039;est pas seulement une d\u00e9claration de certaines doctrines, mais est avant tout un r\u00e9cit des grandes actions et des hauts faits de Dieu \u00e0 travers les \u00e2ges. C\u2019\u00e9tait une histoire de direction divine qui a culmin\u00e9 avec la personne de J\u00e9sus-Christ, que Dieu a envoy\u00e9 pour racheter son peuple. Dieu a choisi Isra\u00ebl pour son h\u00e9ritage, pour \u00eatre son peuple et pour pr\u00e9server sa v\u00e9rit\u00e9, et \u00e0 ce peuple \u00e9lu seul la parole divine a \u00e9t\u00e9 confi\u00e9e. Maintenant, l&#039;\u00c9glise a re\u00e7u cet h\u00e9ritage.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019Ancien Testament tout entier a \u00e9t\u00e9 consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme une proph\u00e9tie chr\u00e9tienne et une \u00ab pr\u00e9paration biblique \u00bb. D\u00e8s le d\u00e9but, des s\u00e9lections sp\u00e9ciales de textes de l\u2019Ancien Testament furent compil\u00e9es et utilis\u00e9es par les missionnaires chr\u00e9tiens. L&#039;un des meilleurs exemples de ce type sont les T\u00e9moignages de saint Cyprien (Testimonia). Dans son dialogue avec Trypho, saint Justin a tent\u00e9 de prouver la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 du christianisme \u00e0 partir de l&#039;Ancien Testament. La tentative des marcionistes de s\u00e9parer le Nouveau Testament de ses racines dans l&#039;Ancien s&#039;est heurt\u00e9e \u00e0 une r\u00e9sistance active et \u00e0 une condamnation de la part de la Grande \u00c9glise. L&#039;unit\u00e9 des deux Testaments a \u00e9t\u00e9 fortement affirm\u00e9e et leur harmonie interne soulign\u00e9e. Il a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 dangereux de lire trop de doctrine chr\u00e9tienne dans les \u00e9crits de l\u2019Ancien Testament. La perspective historique a parfois \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9rieusement obscurcie. Mais il y a encore une grande part de v\u00e9rit\u00e9 dans toutes ces tentatives d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation. Cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 un grand sentiment de direction divine \u00e0 travers les \u00e2ges.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">L&#039;Ancien Testament comme all\u00e9gorie<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>L\u2019histoire de l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation de l\u2019Ancien Testament dans l\u2019\u00c9glise chr\u00e9tienne primitive est l\u2019un des chapitres les plus fragiles et les plus d\u00e9routants de l\u2019histoire de la foi chr\u00e9tienne. L&#039;\u00c9glise a h\u00e9rit\u00e9 de certaines traditions interpr\u00e9tatives de l&#039;Ancien Testament grec. Philon, le juif d&#039;Alexandrie, fut l&#039;un des meilleurs repr\u00e9sentants de cet effort pr\u00e9chr\u00e9tien visant \u00e0 confier l&#039;Ancien Testament aux Gentils. Il a choisi une m\u00e9thode tout \u00e0 fait unique pour cette t\u00e2che : la m\u00e9taphore. Philon n&#039;avait aucune compr\u00e9hension de l&#039;histoire. Il a n\u00e9glig\u00e9 ou n\u00e9glig\u00e9 les motivations messianiques dans sa philosophie du livre. Pour lui, le livre n\u2019\u00e9tait qu\u2019un syst\u00e8me de philosophie divine plut\u00f4t qu\u2019une histoire sacr\u00e9e. Sur cette base, les \u00e9v\u00e9nements historiques n\u2019avaient pour lui aucune importance ni signification. Pour lui, la Bible \u00e9tait un livre dans lequel il ne parvenait \u00e0 discerner aucune perspective ni aucun progr\u00e8s historique. Il traitait la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 comme une collection de glorieux contes symboliques et d&#039;histoires didactiques con\u00e7ues pour v\u00e9hiculer et d\u00e9crire des id\u00e9es philosophiques et morales.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u00c9glise n\u2019a pas accept\u00e9 cette m\u00e9thode symbolique sous une forme aussi extr\u00eame. Il faut cependant reconna\u00eetre la forte influence de Philon sur tous les trait\u00e9s ex\u00e9g\u00e9tiques des premiers si\u00e8cles. Saint Justin utilisait beaucoup Philon. L&#039;apostat Barnabas (d\u00e9but du IIe si\u00e8cle) niait m\u00eame le caract\u00e8re historique de l&#039;Ancien Testament. L&#039;\u00e9cole chr\u00e9tienne d&#039;Alexandrie suivait la tradition philonienne. Plus tard encore, saint Ambroise suivit de pr\u00e8s Philon dans ses commentaires et on peut \u00e0 juste titre l&#039;appeler Philo latinus. Cette interpr\u00e9tation symbolique \u00e9tait ambigu\u00eb et trompeuse.<\/p>\n<p>Il a fallu beaucoup de temps avant que l\u2019\u00e9quilibre ne soit r\u00e9tabli et stabilis\u00e9. Il ne faut cependant pas n\u00e9gliger l\u2019apport positif de cette m\u00e9thode. Le meilleur repr\u00e9sentant de l&#039;interpr\u00e9tation all\u00e9gorique dans l&#039;\u00c9glise \u00e9tait Orig\u00e8ne et son influence fut \u00e9norme. On pourrait \u00eatre surpris par son audace et sa perversit\u00e9 interpr\u00e9tatives. En fait, il lisait beaucoup de choses dans le texte sacr\u00e9. Mais le qualifier de philosophe serait une terrible erreur. Il \u00e9tait avant tout et toujours un bibliste, bien s\u00fbr dans le style de son \u00e9poque. Il passait des jours et des nuits \u00e0 \u00e9tudier la Bible. Son objectif principal \u00e9tait seulement d\u2019\u00e9tablir chaque doctrine et chaque th\u00e9ologie sur une base biblique. Il est en grande partie responsable de la force de l\u2019esprit \u00e9vang\u00e9lique dans toute la th\u00e9ologie patristique. Il a fait beaucoup pour le croyant moyen en lui rendant la Bible facilement accessible. Il a toujours inclus l&#039;Ancien Testament dans son enseignement. Il a aid\u00e9 le croyant moyen \u00e0 lire le Nouveau Testament pour en \u00eatre sanctifi\u00e9. Il a toujours soulign\u00e9 l&#039;unit\u00e9 de la Bible, pla\u00e7ant les deux Testaments dans une relation plus \u00e9troite. Il fit une nouvelle tentative pour construire toute la doctrine de Dieu sur un fondement biblique.<\/p>\n<p>Les d\u00e9fauts d\u2019Orig\u00e8ne sont \u00e9vidents, mais sa contribution positive est bien plus grande. Par son exemple, il a appris aux th\u00e9ologiens chr\u00e9tiens \u00e0 toujours revenir aux textes des Livres Saints pour s&#039;inspirer. La plupart des p\u00e8res suivirent son exemple et se heurt\u00e8rent en m\u00eame temps \u00e0 une forte r\u00e9sistance. Il n\u2019est pas possible ici d\u2019approfondir la controverse entre les deux \u00e9coles d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation de l\u2019\u00c9glise primitive, dont les caract\u00e9ristiques fondamentales sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement connues. L&#039;\u00e9cole antiochienne s&#039;arr\u00eatait \u00e0 l&#039;histoire, tandis que les Alexandrins se concentraient sur la contemplation. Certes, les deux \u00e9l\u00e9ments doivent \u00eatre combin\u00e9s dans une combinaison \u00e9quilibr\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Histoire ou pr\u00e9dication<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>L&#039;hypoth\u00e8se alexandrine de base \u00e9tait que les livres, inspir\u00e9s par Dieu, portent en eux un message universel pour toutes les nations et toutes les \u00e9poques. Le but tout entier des livres est de pr\u00e9senter ce message et de d\u00e9couvrir et enseigner toutes ces richesses que la sagesse divine a soigneusement pr\u00e9serv\u00e9es dans le livre. Sous la lettre des \u00e9crits sacr\u00e9s se trouvent quelques le\u00e7ons que les candidats devraient apprendre. Derri\u00e8re tous les r\u00e9cits humains des diverses apparitions de Dieu, on peut discerner la r\u00e9v\u00e9lation divine et comprendre la Parole de Dieu dans toute sa splendeur immortelle.<\/p>\n<p>On supposait que m\u00eame lorsque Dieu parlait dans certaines circonstances, ses paroles transcendaient toujours toutes les contraintes historiques. Il faut soigneusement distinguer entre la proph\u00e9tie directe et ce que l\u2019on peut d\u00e9crire comme son application. De nombreux r\u00e9cits de l\u2019Ancien Testament peuvent \u00e9clairer le croyant m\u00eame si l\u2019auteur n\u2019a pas eu l\u2019intention d\u2019y pr\u00e9figurer une quelconque v\u00e9rit\u00e9 chr\u00e9tienne. Le pr\u00e9suppos\u00e9 de base \u00e9tait que Dieu voulait que les Saintes \u00c9critures soient le guide \u00e9ternel de toute l\u2019humanit\u00e9. Il \u00e9tait donc permis d\u2019utiliser ou de r\u00e9interpr\u00e9ter l\u2019Ancien Testament de mani\u00e8re respectueuse.<\/p>\n<p>L&#039;interpr\u00e9tation d&#039;Antioche s&#039;int\u00e9ressait \u00e0 la signification directe des r\u00e9cits et proph\u00e9ties antiques. L&#039;explicateur le plus important de cette interpr\u00e9tation historique \u00e9tait Th\u00e9odore de Mepsoeste, connu en Orient sous le nom d&#039;interpr\u00e8te. Bien que son autorit\u00e9 ait \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9rieusement compromise en raison de ses faux enseignements, son influence sur l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation chr\u00e9tienne de l\u2019Ancien Testament reste tr\u00e8s importante. Cette interpr\u00e9tation historique risquait souvent de perdre le sens universel de la r\u00e9v\u00e9lation divine en mettant trop l&#039;accent sur les aspects locaux et nationaux de l&#039;Ancien Testament. Qui plus est, on risque de perdre la perspective divine et de traiter l\u2019histoire de l\u2019Ancien Testament comme s\u2019il s\u2019agissait de l\u2019histoire d\u2019un seul peuple parmi les nations de la terre et non de l\u2019histoire de l\u2019unique v\u00e9ritable alliance de Dieu.<\/p>\n<p>Saint Jean Chrysostome a combin\u00e9 les meilleurs \u00e9l\u00e9ments des deux \u00e9coles dans son effort d&#039;interpr\u00e9tation. C&#039;\u00e9tait un \u00e9rudit antiochien, mais \u00e0 bien des \u00e9gards, il \u00e9tait \u00e9galement un disciple d&#039;Orig\u00e8ne. La symbolique peut induire en erreur mais il ne faut pas n\u00e9gliger le sens typique des \u00e9v\u00e9nements. Les institutions et les personnages de l\u2019Ancien Testament \u00e9taient aussi des mod\u00e8les et des symboles des choses \u00e0 venir. L\u2019histoire elle-m\u00eame \u00e9tait proph\u00e9tique. Les \u00e9v\u00e9nements eux-m\u00eames pr\u00e9disent, et ils pr\u00e9disent, en d\u00e9signant quelque chose qui les d\u00e9passe. Il est difficile de qualifier les premiers p\u00e8res de fondamentalistes. Ils \u00e9taient toujours \u00e0 la recherche de la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 divine et du message divin lui-m\u00eame, souvent cach\u00e9 derri\u00e8re le voile de la lettre. La foi en la r\u00e9v\u00e9lation ne pouvait gu\u00e8re freiner la tendance fondamentaliste. La v\u00e9rit\u00e9 divine ne peut pas \u00eatre transform\u00e9e en lettre, m\u00eame s&#039;il s&#039;agit des \u00c9critures saintes. L&#039;un des meilleurs exemples d&#039;interpr\u00e9tation patristique est les Six Jours (Hexam\u00e9ron) de saint Basile, qui a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 pr\u00e9senter la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 religieuse du r\u00e9cit biblique de la cr\u00e9ation avec un v\u00e9ritable \u00e9quilibre et une mod\u00e9ration sans faille.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>L&#039;Ancien Testament et le culte chr\u00e9tien<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>L&#039;attitude patristique \u00e0 l&#039;\u00e9gard de l&#039;Ancien Testament s&#039;est refl\u00e9t\u00e9e dans l&#039;histoire du culte chr\u00e9tien. Les racines juives de la liturgie chr\u00e9tienne sont claires, mais le syst\u00e8me de culte chr\u00e9tien public \u00e9tait \u00e9galement \u00e9troitement li\u00e9 \u00e0 la pratique des synagogues juives. Les Psaumes sont un h\u00e9ritage des Juifs et sont devenus un mod\u00e8le d&#039;\u00e9criture d&#039;hymnes dans l&#039;\u00c9glise des premiers si\u00e8cles. \u00c0 ce jour, les Psaumes forment le squelette de tous les services chr\u00e9tiens et constituaient la base de toute la litt\u00e9rature d\u00e9votionnelle dans les temps anciens.<\/p>\n<p>L&#039;\u00e9tudiant du culte public dans l&#039;\u00c9glise orthodoxe orientale est touch\u00e9 par l&#039;abondance de r\u00e9f\u00e9rences, d&#039;allusions et d&#039;images de l&#039;Ancien Testament, dans tous les services et hymnes de cette \u00e9glise, ce qui confirme l&#039;unit\u00e9 des deux Testaments. Les allusions bibliques abondent et bon nombre des chants ne sont que des variations sur le mod\u00e8le des hymnes de l&#039;Ancien Testament, depuis l&#039;hymne de Mo\u00efse traversant la mer Rouge jusqu&#039;\u00e0 l&#039;hymne de Zacharie, le p\u00e8re de Jean-Baptiste. De nombreux chapitres de l&#039;Ancien Testament ont \u00e9t\u00e9 identifi\u00e9s lors des grandes f\u00eates lues pour souligner que la perfection chr\u00e9tienne n&#039;est rien d&#039;autre que l&#039;accomplissement de ce qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment repr\u00e9sent\u00e9, pr\u00e9figur\u00e9 ou m\u00eame directement annonc\u00e9 depuis l&#039;Antiquit\u00e9. Cette pr\u00e9paration issue de l&#039;Ancien Testament est particuli\u00e8rement mise en valeur dans les offices de la Grande Semaine. Tout culte est bas\u00e9 sur cette conviction que la v\u00e9ritable alliance a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 une et qu\u2019il y a toujours eu un accord complet entre les proph\u00e8tes et les ap\u00f4tres. Tout ce syst\u00e8me a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tabli plus tard, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque patriarcale.<\/p>\n<p>Le Grand Canon de Saint Andr\u00e9 de Cr\u00e8te est lu lors de la Grande Pri\u00e8re du Coucher du Car\u00eame. Parmi les diff\u00e9rents exemples d\u2019\u00e9critures d\u00e9votionnelles, ce canon est le plus frappant. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019une puissante exhortation et d\u2019un appel \u00e0 la repentance, \u00e9crit avec une v\u00e9ritable inspiration po\u00e9tique et fond\u00e9 sur l\u2019\u00c9vangile. On y rappelle toutes les s\u00e9ries de p\u00e9cheurs de l&#039;Ancien Testament, repentants et imp\u00e9nitents. On peut se perdre dans ce flot constant de noms et de le\u00e7ons. Le chr\u00e9tien se souvient merveilleusement que l\u2019histoire de cet Ancien Testament concerne les chr\u00e9tiens. Le chr\u00e9tien est invit\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir encore et encore \u00e0 cette remarquable histoire de direction divine, de d\u00e9sob\u00e9issance et d\u2019\u00e9checs humains. L&#039;Ancien Testament est conserv\u00e9 comme un tr\u00e9sor pr\u00e9cieux. Le chr\u00e9tien doit aussi souligner l\u2019influence du Cantique des Cantiques sur l\u2019\u00e9mergence de l\u2019asc\u00e9tisme chr\u00e9tien. Le commentaire d&#039;Orig\u00e8ne sur ce livre, selon saint J\u00e9r\u00f4me, \u00e9tait son meilleur \u00e9crit, car il s&#039;y transcendait. L&#039;interpr\u00e9tation asc\u00e9tique du Cantique des Cantiques par saint Gr\u00e9goire de Nysse est une riche mine de r\u00e9v\u00e9lation chr\u00e9tienne authentique.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>L&#039;Ancien Testament comme parole de Dieu<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Plus d\u2019une fois, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 sugg\u00e9r\u00e9 que le message chr\u00e9tien original \u00e9tait trop hell\u00e9nis\u00e9 chez les P\u00e8res grecs. Il faut \u00eatre tr\u00e8s prudent avec ces d\u00e9clarations. En tout cas, ce sont les P\u00e8res qui ont conserv\u00e9 tous les tr\u00e9sors de l\u2019Ancien Testament et en ont fait un h\u00e9ritage indispensable pour l\u2019\u00c9glise, tant dans le culte que dans la th\u00e9ologie. La seule chose qu\u2019ils n\u2019ont pas fait, c\u2019est de ne pas s\u2019arr\u00eater dans les palais juifs. Pour eux, les Saintes \u00c9critures \u00e9taient une r\u00e9v\u00e9lation \u00e9ternelle et universelle, et elles s&#039;adressent d\u00e9sormais au genre humain parce que, pour le dire simplement, elles \u00e9taient adress\u00e9es \u00e0 toutes les nations par Dieu lui-m\u00eame, m\u00eame lorsque la Parole de Dieu \u00e9tait transmise des proph\u00e8tes aux proph\u00e8tes. peuple \u00e9lu seul. Cela signifie qu\u2019il n\u2019est pas possible de mesurer la profondeur de la r\u00e9v\u00e9lation divine \u00e0 l\u2019aune de certaines \u00e9poques anciennes, aussi saintes soient-elles. Il ne suffit pas d\u2019\u00eatre certain que les anciens Juifs comprenaient et interpr\u00e9taient la Bible d\u2019une mani\u00e8re ou d\u2019une autre, car cette interpr\u00e9tation ne peut \u00eatre d\u00e9finitive. Celui qui est venu uniquement pour accomplir la Loi et les Proph\u00e8tes a apport\u00e9 un nouvel \u00e9clairage sur les r\u00e9v\u00e9lations. Les \u00c9critures saintes ne sont pas de simples documents historiques. C&#039;est v\u00e9ritablement la parole de Dieu et le message divin \u00e0 toutes les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations. J\u00e9sus-Christ est l&#039;auteur et l&#039;ambiance de la Bible, le point culminant et le n\u0153ud de l&#039;\u00c9vangile.
