Abbiamo creato un pastore che si abituava al silenzio e alla contemplazione. Presto prese bastone e calzino e si avvicin\u00f2 alla porta di uno dei monasteri vicini. Il presidente esit\u00f2 ad accettarlo a causa della sua giovane et\u00e0, poi prese la sua sobriet\u00e0 e lo accett\u00f2. Il giovane Simone trascorse due anni in questo monastero, poi si trasfer\u00ec in un altro, cercando una maggiore povert\u00e0 e una maggiore morte. La corda che lo legava intorno alla vita lo fece sanguinare e gli fer\u00ec la pelle. Simeone padroneggiava metodi di oppressione e di morte, cos\u00ec il suo superiore gli chiese di lasciare il monastero e di andare ovunque volesse essere libero nei suoi metodi e in se stesso. Simone soggiorn\u00f2 in un eremo ai piedi di una montagna non lontano da Antiochia. Qui incontr\u00f2 il sacerdote Basso, che ispezionava gli affari degli eremiti presso il Patriarca di Antiochia e trasmetteva loro i segreti divini. Allora Simone voleva digiunare per quaranta giorni senza mangiare n\u00e9 bere, ma Basso lo dissuase, sottolineando che Dio non approva il suicidio. Simone accett\u00f2 il consiglio, tenne del pane e dell&#039;acqua nella sua capanna e chiese al prete di bloccare la porta la capanna con le pietre. Allora il prete lo fece e se ne and\u00f2. Simeone digiun\u00f2 quaranta giorni senza pane n\u00e9 acqua. Il sacerdote venne durante la Settimana Santa portando la Santa Eucaristia e lo trov\u00f2 a terra, immobile. Vide nei loro sforzi la volont\u00e0 dell&#039;Altissimo, cos\u00ec fece del suo pilastro una piattaforma dalla quale predicava e predicava nel nome di Ges\u00f9. La sua fama si diffuse e la gente accorreva a frotte da lui, compresi principi e vescovi, chiedendo consigli, consolazione, benedizioni o guarigioni. Si allargavano intorno a lui, unendosi in preghiera, e nel pomeriggio appariva loro una guida confortante e guaritrice. Un giorno venne da lui il successore dei due apostoli portando la Santa Eucaristia. Lo prese in mano e torn\u00f2, impressionato e umiliato.<\/p>\n<p>Si dice che Antioco Ibn Spinus, il sovrano di Damasco, abbia detto che Al-Numan, il re di Al-Hira, port\u00f2 i suoi alloggi e si stabil\u00ec nel deserto di Damasco e lo invit\u00f2 a mangiare con lui. Cos\u00ec gli si oppose, e non appena furono nello stesso posto, Al-Nu&#039;man gli chiese di Simon Al-Amoudi, dicendo: \u00c8 un dio agli occhi del suo popolo o un essere umano? Antioco rispose: &quot;\u00c8 un essere umano come noi, ma serve Dio&quot;. Al-Numan ha detto: &quot;La reputazione di quest&#039;uomo si \u00e8 diffusa oltre gli orizzonti e il suo status \u00e8 diventato eccezionale tra i nostri clan. Hanno continuato ad accorrere da lui in massa e a seguire la sua predicazione e la sua guida&quot;. Per interesse personale, sono stato costretto a vietare alla mia gente di contattare quest&#039;uomo, minacciando con il supplizio della morte chiunque avesse osato ricorrere a Simon e ascoltarlo. Ma ho visto nel mio sogno un uomo distinto che entrava in me con una spada e ordinava che fossi fustigato. Cinque dei miei aiutanti mi hanno frustato. Poi l&#039;ho sentito dirmi: Attento, attento quando impedirai al tuo popolo di visitare Simone. Non sai che ti far\u00f2 a pezzi? Ha abolito il divieto e ha consentito la conversione al cristianesimo. Il cristianesimo si \u00e8 diffuso tra noi e abbiamo vescovi e preti.<\/p>\n<p>E pi\u00f9 la gente si rivolgeva a lui, pi\u00f9 si torturava e si umiliava. Oltre a torturarlo, Dio lo colp\u00ec con malattie dolorose e permise che la sua reputazione fosse degradata e che la sua santit\u00e0 fosse minata. Ma era paziente, silenzioso e umile. Anzi, era grato a coloro che lo volevano tanto perch\u00e9, secondo lui, lo trattavano come meritavano i suoi peccati e i suoi difetti. Poi la sua anima flu\u00ec nell&#039;anno 469. La gente pensava che stesse pregando, cos\u00ec si prostrarono attorno alla sua colonna e si unirono nella preghiera. Preg\u00f2 per due giorni interi, poi si avvicinarono a lui e lo trovarono morto. Collocarono le sue reliquie nella Chiesa Cassiani e poi lo trasferirono nella Chiesa dell&#039;Unione del Pentimento. La sua colonna rimase un famoso santuario, e i monaci costruirono attorno ad essa un monastero e una chiesa, le cui rovine parlano ancora oggi di grandezza.<br \/>La chiesa lo celebra il primo giorno di settembre di ogni anno.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Sul sito della Diocesi di Aleppo:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Storia della costruzione della Chiesa di San Simeone:<\/span><\/strong> I legami di amicizia e di affetto erano forti tra l&#039;imperatore Zenone e lo stilita Daniele, e questo rapporto spinse l&#039;imperatore a costruire una chiesa in onore di un santo le cui virt\u00f9 erano cos\u00ec importanti da includere l&#039;intero impero, da poter attribuire a Zenone l&#039;inizio dei lavori per la costruzione della Chiesa di San Simeone nell&#039;anno 476 d.C.
