Sie wurde als Tochter frommer Eltern aus Heraklius, Thrakien, geboren. Sie wurde schon in jungen Jahren dazu erzogen, das Leben der Heiligen auswendig zu lernen, und die Heiligen wurden f\u00fcr sie zu einem Vorbild. Mit zw\u00f6lf Jahren wurde sie Waise. Sie verteilte ihr Erbe an Bed\u00fcrftige, entlie\u00df ihre Diener und schloss sich dann dem Kloster des Heiligen Georg an, das in Konstantinopel den Spitznamen \u201eDer H\u00fcgel\u201c tr\u00e4gt und auch das Kloster der Heiligen Cosmas und Damianos genannt wurde. Das Kloster wurde damals offenbar von ihrer Tante geleitet.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Nachdem Elisabeth das kl\u00f6sterliche Leben mit Inbrunst angenommen hatte, wurde sie schnell zu einem auserw\u00e4hlten Gef\u00e4\u00df Gottes. Sie begann im Dschihad Fortschritte zu machen und die Strapazen des Fastens und Betens zu ertragen. Im Winter litt sie unter K\u00e4lte und Eis. Sie begn\u00fcgte sich damit, ein grobes Kleid mit weiten \u00c4rmeln zu tragen. Sie war mit himmlischem Brot als Nahrung zufrieden. Sie bem\u00fchte sich, sich und ihren K\u00f6rper zu kontrollieren und suchte nach Neuem in der Seele.<\/p>\n
Ihr Dschihad brachte ihr g\u00f6ttliche Fr\u00fcchte. Gott segnete sie mit der Gabe, Wunder zu vollbringen, zus\u00e4tzlich zu der Tatsache, dass die Kraft Gottes in ihr einmal deutlich wurde, als sie eine riesige Giftschlange t\u00f6tete und sie um Hilfe gebeten wurde.<\/p>\n
Als die \u00c4btissin diese Welt verlassen wollte, w\u00e4hlte sie sie zu ihrer Nachfolgerin. Der Stab der F\u00fcrsorge wurde aus der Hand des Patriarchen Jannadius von Konstantinopel \u00fcbernommen.<\/p>\n
Dies ist darauf zur\u00fcckzuf\u00fchren, dass sie Kaiser Leo I. dar\u00fcber informierte, dass die Stadt Konstantinopel von einem Gro\u00dfbrand heimgesucht werden w\u00fcrde. Dies geschah im Jahr 465 n. Chr.<\/p>\n
Einmal, w\u00e4hrend des Sakraments der Danksagung, geriet ich in Trance und sah, wie der Heilige Geist des Herrn, Ehre sei ihm, auf den g\u00f6ttlichen Altar herabstieg und ihn in Form einer gro\u00dfen Decke aus leuchtendem Wei\u00df bedeckte.<\/p>\n

Mit \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigender Freude streckte sie ihre Arme zum Himmel aus und \u00fcbergab ihre Seele, nachdem sie die Worte Simons des Gerechten gesagt hatte: \u201eJetzt Lass deinen Diener frei, Herr, in Frieden, gem\u00e4\u00df deinem Wort, denn meine Augen haben deine Erl\u00f6sung gesehen.\u201c Sp\u00e4ter stellte sich heraus, dass ihr K\u00f6rper nicht aufgel\u00f6st worden war.
