Eftimios wurde um das Jahr 377 n. Chr. in Malatya, Armenien, geboren. Der Name seines Vaters ist Paul und der Name seiner Mutter ist Dionysia. Beide waren prominent und tugendhaft. Aber sie blieben jahrelang deprimiert, weil sie keinen Nachwuchs hatten. Da sie h\u00e4ufig die Kirche St. Polyfactus von Malaty besuchten, beteten sie st\u00e4ndig zu Gott, er m\u00f6ge ihnen die Frucht des Mutterleibs schenken und ihre Schmerzen lindern. Ihre Bitte wurde angenommen und Gott der Herr segnete sie mit einem m\u00e4nnlichen Kind, das sie Euthymius nannten, abgeleitet vom Wort Efthymia, was \u201eFreude\u201c bedeutet, aufgrund des Gl\u00fccks und der Freude seiner Eltern bei seiner Geburt. Dies gelobte er Gott vor seiner Geburt. Als er drei Jahre alt war, schlief sein Vater ein und seine Mutter stellte ihn der Kirche als Hannah vor, Samuels Mutter, und sie nahm das Diakonat an.<\/p>\n

Euthymius verbrachte seine Teenagerjahre damit, die Bibel und die Chroniken der Heiligen zu studieren. Er war ein Sch\u00fcler von Aftropius, dem Bischof von Malatya, der ihn sp\u00e4ter zum Priester ernannte und ihn mit der Betreuung der Kl\u00f6ster von Malatya beauftragte. Euthymius liebte die Ruhe und besuchte h\u00e4ufig die Kirche St. Polyfactus. Dort war er es gewohnt, seine Tage zu verbringen, wann immer er eine M\u00f6glichkeit dazu fand. Einmal im Jahr, nach der g\u00f6ttlichen Erscheinung, verlie\u00df er die Stadt, um sich bis zum Palmsonntag in einigen Bergen in der Wildnis zur\u00fcckzuziehen.<\/p>\n
Mit neunundzwanzig Jahren reiste er heimlich nach Jerusalem. Er kam in die Fara-Region und lie\u00df sich ruhig in der N\u00e4he einer Wasserquelle und von Palmen nieder. Dort traf er in der N\u00e4he einen Einsiedler, den rechtschaffenen Heiligen Theoktis, der mit ihm als eine Seele geopfert wurde.<\/p>\n
Nach f\u00fcnf Jahren zogen sie in eine H\u00f6hle, wo sie lange blieben, sich von Wildkr\u00e4utern ern\u00e4hrten und sich um nichts anderes k\u00fcmmerten, als auf Gott zu hoffen, bis zwei Hirten aus Bethanien ihren Aufenthaltsort verrieten. Als sich ihr Ruhm verbreitete und die Zahl ihrer kl\u00f6sterlichen Sch\u00fcler zunahm, verwandelte Euthymius die H\u00f6hle in eine Kirche und errichtete dar\u00fcber eine Lavra, deren Pflege Theoktistos anvertraut wurde.<\/p>\n

Eines Tages heilte der Herr den Sohn eines der Beduinenf\u00fchrer durch Eftimios, und die Beduinen waren sehr erstaunt, glaubten an Christus und baten um die Taufe durch die Hand des Heiligen Gottes. Aus allen Richtungen str\u00f6mten Menschen zum Heiligen Gottes, und viele forderten Freispruch durch ihn. Als ihr Druck zunahm, verlie\u00df er heimlich seinen Platz, weil ihm die Stille gefiel, und ein tugendhafter M\u00f6nch namens Domitian begleitete ihn. Nach einer Weile kehrte Euphtimius jedoch in die H\u00f6hle und zu den M\u00f6nchen der Lavra zur\u00fcck, wohnte jedoch f\u00fcnf Kilometer von ihnen entfernt und begann, sie regelm\u00e4\u00dfig zu besuchen. Kyriakos, der Einsiedler, der den Heiligen begleitete und die H\u00e4rte seines Lebens kannte, berichtete, dass er ihn an f\u00fcnf Tagen in der Woche kein einziges Mal essen oder ein einziges Wort sprechen sah, au\u00dfer wenn es absolut notwendig war, und dass er es nicht gewohnt war, im Liegen zu schlafen. sondern eher sitzend oder an einem Seil h\u00e4ngend in einer Ecke.<\/p>\n
Der Heilige hatte eine Beziehung zu Gott. Er wusste und erz\u00e4hlte den Br\u00fcdern von seiner bevorstehenden Abreise zu seinem Herrn. Nachdem alle das feierliche Fest des Heiligen Antonius des Gro\u00dfen gefeiert hatten, verabschiedete er sich am Morgen mit einer v\u00e4terlichen Predigt von allen. Dann er entlie\u00df alle au\u00dfer Domian, der drei Tage bei ihm blieb. Dann, am Samstagabend, ruhte er, wie bereits berichtet, eine ganze Reihe von Tagen, sechsundneunzig Jahre, in Frieden im Herrn. Das war am 20. Januar 473 n. Chr.<\/p>\n
