\"DerDer heilige Theophanes wurde im Jahr 759 n. Chr. in Konstantinopel zur Zeit von Kaiser Konstantin V., bekannt als \u201eZebelli\u201c (742-775 n. Chr.), in eine wohlhabende Adelsfamilie geboren. Der Verdienst seiner Erziehung geb\u00fchrt in erster Linie seiner Mutter. Im Alter von zw\u00f6lf Jahren verlobte er sich mit einem der reichen M\u00e4dchen namens Migalo. Seine Verlobung dauerte acht Jahre, am Ende heiratete er. In seiner Hochzeitsnacht offenbarte Theophanes seiner Braut seinen Wunsch, das kl\u00f6sterliche Leben anzunehmen, den er schon immer gehegt hatte. Er konnte seine Frau davon \u00fcberzeugen, zusammenzuleben. Aber bei Verstopfung, wie Bruder und Schwester.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Diese Hochzeit dauerte zwei Jahre, trotz des Drucks, den Migalos Vater auf sie aus\u00fcbte. Dann empfing dieser seinen Schwiegersohn von Kaiser Leo IV. (775-780), indem er ihn zum Herrscher von Kyzikos ernannte. Er hoffte, dass die Sorgen der neuen Verantwortung ihn von seinen asketischen Tendenzen abbringen w\u00fcrden. Doch das Ergebnis war das Gegenteil von dem, was er erwartet hatte, denn der fromme Herrscher wusste die gesamte freie Zeit, die ihm zur Verf\u00fcgung stand, zu nutzen, um die Einsiedler in dieser Region zu besuchen. Einer dieser Einsiedler, Gregory, st\u00e4rkte ihn und ermutigte ihn, dem Weg zu folgen, den er eingeschlagen hatte. Es dauerte nicht lange, bis Theophanes nach einem Besuch in Konstantinopel einen neuen b\u00fcrgerlichen Rang erhielt.<\/p>\n

\"ReihenfolgeAber nichts brachte ihn aus der Linie, auf der er stand. Seine Seele war erf\u00fcllt von Gottes Liebe und seine Treue war best\u00e4ndig. Als der Kaiser und sein Onkel, Megalos Vater, starben, bat Theophanes die K\u00f6nigin Irene um Erlaubnis, die Regentschaft zu \u00fcbernehmen. Er entlie\u00df auch seine Diener, verteilte seinen Reichtum und brachte seine Frau Dera auf den Archipel der Prinzen. Seitdem hat er sie nicht mehr gesehen. Er schrieb ihr nur, um sie zu ermutigen, an dem festzuhalten, wof\u00fcr sie die Welt verlassen hatte. Er selbst wurde M\u00f6nch im Polychronion-Kloster auf dem Sigriani-Gipfel in der N\u00e4he von Kyzikos. Von dort zog er eine Zeit lang in eines der Familienh\u00e4user auf der Insel Kalonymos. Die Klostersch\u00fcler str\u00f6mten zu ihm, aber er wollte sich nicht um sie k\u00fcmmern. Dies wurde einem erfahrenen M\u00f6nch \u00fcbergeben, der aus einem anderen Kloster stammte, w\u00e4hrend er sechs Jahre lang als Einsiedler in der Nachbarschaft herumzog und Manuskripte transportierte.<\/p>\n

Als der Leiter des Klosters starb, wollten die Br\u00fcder, dass er seinen Platz einnahm. Da er bef\u00fcrchtete, dass Hezikhia (Ruhe) verloren gehen w\u00fcrde, kehrte er auf den Gipfel von Sigriani zur\u00fcck und erwarb ein Grundst\u00fcck namens \u201eThe Great Field\u201c, auf dem er ein Kloster gr\u00fcndete, das sp\u00e4ter zu einem der wichtigsten spirituellen Zentren dieser Zeit wurde. Theophanes \u00fcbte Fasten, Wachsamkeit und Tr\u00e4nen und war ein Vorbild, dem jeder folgen konnte. Wieder einmal versammelten sich die Sch\u00fcler um ihn und er k\u00fcmmerte sich um sie. Er verstand es, jeden wie seinen Bruder zu behandeln, den Einfachen und den Gebildeten zugleich. Er leitete sie mit Autorit\u00e4t, aber ohne Gewalt. Er lehrte sie die Lehre und die Kunst, ihre W\u00fcnsche gemeinsam zu kontrollieren. Um mehr Wissen zu erlangen, besuchte er einige Kl\u00f6ster in Bithynien und Pontus. Zus\u00e4tzlich zu der M\u00fche, die er auf sich nahm, um auf sich und seine Herde aufzupassen, widmete er sich dem Schreiben der Annalen, die als eines der wichtigsten Dokumente zur Geschichte Byzanz gelten. Er war ein auserw\u00e4hltes Gef\u00e4\u00df f\u00fcr Gott, einschlie\u00dflich aller, die durch die Barmherzigkeit seines Herrn zu ihm kamen. Als eine schwere Hungersnot ausbrach, verteilte er alles, was sich im Vorratsraum des Klosters befand, und die Gnade seines Herrn f\u00fcllte ihn wieder f\u00fcr ihn.<\/p>\n

Unser Heiliger wurde zum Zweiten Konzil von Nic\u00e4a im Jahr 787 n. Chr. eingeladen, das zur Verteidigung der heiligen Ikonen abgehalten wurde. Seine Kleidung war einfach und d\u00fcrftig, aber er \u00fcberraschte die Anwesenden mit der Tiefe seines Wissens \u00fcber das Erbe der Heiligen V\u00e4ter. Als er in sein Kloster zur\u00fcckkehrte, wurde er krank und litt jahrelang unter starken Schmerzen.<\/p>\n

Im Jahr 815 n. Chr., als der armenische Kaiser Leo V. seinen Feldzug f\u00fcr Ikonen erneut begann, informierten ihn einige seiner Helfer \u00fcber den M\u00f6nch Theophanes und dessen theologisches Gewicht, das sein Unterfangen zunichtemachen k\u00f6nnte. Er versuchte, unseren Heiligen f\u00fcr seine Partei zu gewinnen, also bot er ihm einerseits sein Wohlwollen an, wenn er gehorchte und kooperierte, und warnte ihn andererseits, wenn er ungehorsam war und stur wurde, denn das h\u00e4tte schwerwiegende Folgen ihm und seinen Gef\u00e4hrten Schaden zuf\u00fcgen.<\/p>\n

Die Antwort von Theophanes war: \u201eNachdem ich alt geworden war und mit Schmerzen und Krankheiten zu k\u00e4mpfen hatte, versp\u00fcrte ich keine Neigung oder Lust mehr auf das, was ich vorschlug. Darauf habe ich um Christi willen von meiner Jugend an verzichtet, als ich noch in der Lage war, die Welt zu genie\u00dfen. Was mein Heimatland und meine Freunde betrifft, vertraue ich sie Gott an. Wenn du daran denkst, mich so einzusch\u00fcchtern, dass ich deinen Drohungen nachgebe wie ein Kind mit einem Stock, wirst du vergebens sein. Auch wenn ich nicht gehen kann und unter k\u00f6rperlichen Beschwerden leide, vertraue ich auf Christus, dass er mich darauf vorbereiten kann, die h\u00e4rtesten Folterungen zu ertragen, die Sie mir zur Verteidigung seiner Sache zuf\u00fcgen k\u00f6nnen.\u201c<\/p>\n

Also schickte Leo seine Soldaten zu ihm, brannte sein Kloster nieder und \u00fcberf\u00fchrte ihn gewaltsam nach Konstantinopel, ohne sich um seine Krankheit und seine Schmerzen zu k\u00fcmmern. Als er die besessene Stadt erreichte, weigerte er sich, den Kaiser zu treffen, weshalb Leo w\u00fctend wurde und ihn im Kloster der Heiligen Sergius und Bacchus einsperrte, wo der ketzerische Patriarch, auch Leo genannt, versuchte, ihn f\u00fcr den Kaiser zu gewinnen, doch scheiterte vergeblich. Alle Argumente von Leo wurden von Theophanes vollst\u00e4ndig widerlegt.<\/p>\n

Danach sperrten sie ihn zwei Jahre lang an einem dunklen Ort im Palast des Fatarius ein. Sie entzogen ihm viele Male das Essen, behandelten ihn hart und schlugen ihn wiederholt mit Peitschenhieben. Als der Kaiser keinen Nutzen daraus zog, verbannte er ihn auf die Insel Samotrace. Unser Heiliger konnte dort nicht l\u00e4nger als zwanzig Tage bleiben, danach starb er am 12. M\u00e4rz des Jahres 817 oder 818 n. Chr. Sein Schrein wurde sofort zu einer Quelle der Heilung.<\/p>\n

Im Jahr 822 kamen seine Sch\u00fcler und \u00fcberf\u00fchrten seine sterblichen \u00dcberreste in sein Kloster in Al-Haql Al-Kabir. Der heilige Theodor der Studiter, dessen Pate Theophanes war, war derjenige, der bei dieser Gelegenheit die Predigt hielt.<\/p>\n
