Chr. Der heilige Theologe Gregor beschrieb ihn als \u201eeinen frommen, sanftm\u00fctigen, dem\u00fctigen Mann, dessen Gesicht vom Licht des Heiligen Geistes erstrahlt.\u201c Der heilige Johannes Chrysostomus sagte: \u201eAllein sein Anblick w\u00fcrde der Seele Freude bereiten und die Tugend anregen.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Er stammte aus Malatya in Kleinarmenien. \u00dcberall wehten die Winde des Arianismus, die die G\u00f6ttlichkeit des Sohnes leugneten. Die Arianer w\u00e4hlten ihn gegen\u00fcber Sebastia, weil sie dachten, er sei ihr Verb\u00fcndeter, aber das war nicht der Fall (358 n. Chr.). Die Menschen dort zeigten Spaltung und Ungehorsam und zogen nach Aleppo. Es hei\u00dft, er fl\u00fcchtete in ein Kloster und widmete sich dem Fasten, dem Gebet und dem Lesen der heiligen B\u00fccher.<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Nach dem Sturz des Arianers Evdoxius wurde er im Jahr 361 zum Bischof von Antiochia ernannt. Die Orthodoxen und die Arianer unterst\u00fctzten ihn gemeinsam. Dies lag daran, dass sie ihn wie ihre Br\u00fcder, die Arianer von Sebastia, als ihren Verb\u00fcndeten betrachteten, und diese daran, dass sie seine Tugend und die Aufrichtigkeit seiner Meinung kannten. An dem Tag, an dem er den Patronatsstab erhielt, war Kaiser Constantius der Arianer anwesend. Meletius wollte sich nicht mit Fragen der Lehre befassen, denn er kam, um zu vereinen, nicht um zu spalten. Er kam, um Wunden zu verbinden, nicht um sie zu heilen. In seiner Predigt sprach er \u00fcber die Sch\u00f6nheit der Tugend und die H\u00e4sslichkeit des Lasters und betonte die Reform der Seele und der Moral. Der Kaiser brachte ihn in Verlegenheit, indem er ihn um eine Erkl\u00e4rung des biblischen Verses bat: \u201eDer Herr erschuf mich zum Anfang seines Weges\u201c (Spr\u00fcche 22:8). Dieser Vers wurde von den Arianern f\u00e4lschlicherweise verwendet, um ihre Aussage zu untermauern, dass der Sohn ein geschaffenes Wesen sei. Meletius\u2018 Antwort war klar und offen, ohne Angst, Z\u00f6gern oder Kompromisse. Er erkl\u00e4rte seinen Glauben an die Heilige Dreifaltigkeit, einen Gott in drei Personen. Die Orthodoxen jubelten. Die Arianer waren schockiert. W\u00e4hrend er sprach, st\u00fcrmte sein arianischer Erzdiakon auf ihn zu und unterbrach ihn. Er legte die Hand vor den Mund und versuchte, ihn mit Gewalt zum Schweigen zu bringen. Er hielt nicht den Mund. Folgen Sie mit einer Handbewegung. Einen Monat sp\u00e4ter wurde der Kaiser nach Armenien verbannt.<\/p>\n<p>Er kehrte im selben Jahr (361) auf seinen Thron zur\u00fcck, nachdem der undankbare Julian den Thron bestiegen hatte. Was fand er vor? Die Orthodoxen in Antiochia wurden in zwei Gruppen eingeteilt: Loyalisten und Gegner. Die Gegner sagten, er sei ein verkleideter Arianer, jedenfalls seien es die Arianer gewesen, die ihn in Sebastia gew\u00e4hlt h\u00e4tten. Also w\u00e4hlten die Gegner einen anderen Bischof, Paulinus. Das antiochische Schisma dauerte damals 85 Jahre. Julian wurde bejubelt, weil es ihm in erster Linie darum ging, das Christentum zu schw\u00e4chen und das Heidentum wiederherzustellen. Nach einer Weile erkannte er, dass Meletius ihm im Weg stand, und verbannte ihn erneut nach Armenien.<\/p>\n<p>Unser Heiliger kehrte 363 n. Chr. nach der Ermordung Julians aus dem Exil zur\u00fcck. Die Menschen in Antiochia empfingen ihn als lebenden Heiligen. Die meisten von ihnen hielten ihm w\u00e4hrend seiner Abwesenheit die Treue. Viele Kinder wurden zum Segen nach ihm benannt und die Menschen malten sein Bild an die W\u00e4nde ihrer H\u00e4user. Meletius versuchte die Einheit mit Paulinus wiederherzustellen. Er bot an, gemeinsam die F\u00fchrung zu \u00fcbernehmen, bis einer von ihnen starb, aber er scheiterte. Rom und Alexandria erkannten Paulinus an. Malatos akzeptierte die vollendeten Tatsachen und behandelte Paulinus in einem Geist der Vertrautheit, Einigkeit und des Friedens. Er verhielt sich sanftm\u00fctig und geduldig. \u00dcbergebe seinen Befehl Gott.<\/p>\n<p>Meletius war daran interessiert, eine Generation von Verteidigern des Glaubens heranzuziehen: Diodorus von Tarsus, Flavianus von Antiochia und Albidius von Latakia waren alle seine Sch\u00fcler. Er war es, der Chrysostomus taufte, nachdem er ihn vom heidnischen Lehrer Libanus abgel\u00f6st und zum Vorleser und Diakon geweiht hatte.<\/p>\n<p>Nachdem Valens den Thron bestiegen hatte (364), kehrten die Arianer mit Macht in die vorderste Front zur\u00fcck. Meletius hat sehr gelitten. Schlie\u00dflich wurde er im Jahr 372 erneut und zum dritten Mal nach Armenien verbannt. Es wurde gesagt, dass die Bewohner von Antiochia an diesem Tag Steine auf den Offizier warfen, der ihn ins Exil begleitete, sodass Meletius ihn mit seinem K\u00f6rper besch\u00fctzte.<\/p>\n<p>Meletius blieb sechs Jahre lang in seinem dritten Exil. Er hatte mehrmals die Gelegenheit, den heiligen Basilius den Gro\u00dfen zu treffen. Der heilige Basilius wurde einer seiner Unterst\u00fctzer und arbeitete daran, das Missverst\u00e4ndnis zwischen Meletius, Rom und Alexandria zu beseitigen.<\/p>\n<p>Meletius kehrte 378 n. Chr. nach Antiochia zur\u00fcck. Kaiser Theodosius der Gro\u00dfe (379-395) lud ihn ein, einem neuen \u00d6kumenischen Konzil vorzustehen (Konstantinopel 381). Unterst\u00fctzung des Beitritts des Heiligen Gregor des Theologen zur k\u00f6niglichen Hauptstadt. W\u00e4hrend der Rat seine Sitzungen fortsetzte, wurde Meletius krank und schlief ein. Die V\u00e4ter und Diener weinten um ihn, und der Kaiser ehrte ihn sehr. Der heilige Johannes Chrysostomus nannte ihn einen M\u00e4rtyrer, und Gregor der Theologe und das Zweite Konzil nannten ihn einen Heiligen. Rom erkannte seine Heiligkeit an, nachdem es die Gemeinschaft mit ihm abgebrochen hatte. Sein Leichnam wurde nach Antiochia \u00fcberf\u00fchrt und im Grab der Heiligen Babila, der M\u00e4rtyrerin, beigesetzt. Die lateinische und die maronitische Kirche kehren wie wir am 12. Februar zu ihm zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Troparia f\u00fcr den Takt in der vierten Melodie<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Deine Taten der Wahrheit haben dich deiner Herde als ein Gesetz des Glaubens, ein Bild der Sanftmut und einen Lehrer der Selbstbeherrschung gezeigt, Vater Hohepriester Meletius.
