إذا كنتَ مسيحياً وفقدتَ كلَ ما تملك، كلَ من تحب، حتى حياتك، فأنت لم تفقد شيئاً فعلاً. “اكنزوا لكم كنوزاً في السماء حيث لا يفسد سوس ولا صدأ وحيث لا ينقب سارقون ولا يسرقون” (متى20:6). عرف الشهداءُ والقديسون المسيحيون الأوائل هذه الحقيقة جيد، لأن الكثيرين منهم تخلوا عن حياتهم من أجل إيمانهم بيسوع المسيح. لقد علموا أن أكثر ما يمكن لبشري أن يفعله لهم هو أن يضع حداً لحياتهم. لقد علموا أن أرواحهم تخصُ اللهَ ولا يمكن لأحدٍ أن يدمرها. وها هم يظفرون بما كان ينتظرهم إذ انتهت حياتهم. بكلماتٍ أخرى، هم لم يفقدوا شيئاً لكنهم ربحوا كلَ شيء! كان الخيار منوطاً بهم في عدم خضوعهم للضغط وإعلان إيمانهم بيسوع المسيح. وخيارهم هذا أكسبهم إكليلَ الشهادة وموطناً أبدياً في السماء. “فإن من أراد أن يخلص نفسه يهلكها ومن يهلك نفسه من أجلي ومن أجل الإنجيل فهو يخلصها. لأنه ماذا ينتفع الإنسان لو ربح العالم كله وخسر نفسه” (مرقس35:8-36).
إن حرية الاختيار هي هبةُ الله العظيمة لنا. وأعظم مجدٍ يمكننا تقديمه لله هو أن نستعمل حرية اختيارنا لنختاره هو. مستقبلنا الأبدي يتأثر باختياراتنا. “فإذا كنتم تأكلون وتشربون وتفعلون شيئاً فافعلوا كل شيء لمجد الله” (1كورنثوس 31:10). إن حريتنا في الاختيار تضع أمامنا خيارين اثنين: يمكن أن نختار اتباع النور (الله)، ويمكن أن نختار اتباع الظلمة. عندما نختار أن نتبع النور فإننا نستجيب للمقطع الإنجيلي المذكور أعلاه، وتمجدُ أفعالُنا اللهَ.
- A club that kills can be used as a stake to secure a tent for shelter.
- The knife that cuts meat can be used to cut clothes to make clothing that protects us from the elements.
- The spear that kills can be used as a lever to lighten the load of heavy objects we lift.
من الواضح إذاً أن الاختيارات التي نتخذها إما أن تنير أرواحنا وتظلمها. لدينا الحرية في أن نختار تمجيد الله ولا وذلك من خلال تصرفاتنا وتفاعلنا مع إخوتنا البشر. كلُ الخليقة جُبِلَت لمجد الله ولأغراض صالحة. لكن سوء استعمال أي شيء يعيق هدفه الصالح ويرمي من أساء استعماله في الظلمة. “أما أنا وبيتي فنعبد الربَ” (يشوع 15:24).
قال النبي اشعيا عن يسوع المسيح: “الشعب الجالس في الظلمة أبصر نوراً عظيماً والجالسون في كورة الموت وظلاله أشرق عليهم نور” (متى 16:4). “سمعتم انه قيل تحب قريبك وتبغض عدوك. وأما أن فأقول لكم أحبوا أعداءكم باركوا لاعنيكم أحسنوا إلى مبغضيكم وصلوا لأجل الذين يسيئون إليكم ويطردونكم” (متى43:5-44).
كم وكم من المرات سمعتَ العبارة: “أحبب الخاطئ لكن اكره الخطيئة”. هذه العبارة نصف صحيحة. إذ يتوجب علينا أن نحب الخاطئ لأن يسوع المسيح طلب منا في الإنجيل أن نحبَ الكلَ، حتى أعداءنا. يجب ألا نكره أي شيء. الكره عاطفة سلبية تُظلم من يطبقها. وبالتالي تكون النسخة المستنيرة لهذه العبارة: “أحبب الخاطئ وأنرهُ واغفر الخطيئةَ”.
If you use a calculator and enter 1, press the minus key, then enter 1 again and press the minus key, what is the total result of the two numbers? You get -2, and you double the negative number. When you hate evil, you double its effect. If you fight darkness with hatred, you yourself enter darkness! But when you illuminate the darkness with God’s light and love, you dispel the darkness and cancel it out. Just as when you enter -1 and then +1, the answer is zero. Cancel the influence of darkness by making wise choices based on God’s enlightened love.
“وأما الآن فاطرحوا عنكم أنتم أيضاً الكلَ الغضب السخط التجديف الكلام القبيح من أفواهكم. لا تكذبوا بعضكم على بعض إذ خلعتم الإنسان العتيق مع أعماله” (كولوسي 8:3-9). “فليس مكتوم لن يُستعلن ولا خفي لن يعرف” (لوقا2:12).
As I mentioned earlier, we have a choice between light and darkness. When we choose a lie, we choose darkness. According to the previous passage in Luke’s Gospel, the darkness of our untruthfulness is always exposed when the light of truth shines upon it.
In Matthew 21, Jesus uses a parable about a father who had two sons. The father asked the first son to go work in his vineyard. The first son said no, but in the end he repented and went to work in the vineyard. The second son told his father he would go work in the vineyard but did not.
كان الابنُ الأول صادق، إذ أنه لم يخبر والد بما أراد هو (الوالد) أن يسمعه، لكنه تاب فاعلاً إرادة الأب. اختار الابنُ الثاني أن يكذب على أبيه مخبراً إياه بما أراد سماعه لكنه لم يكن عازماً على تتميم إرادة أبيه. وبالتالي جلبَ الابنُ الثاني على نفسه غضبَ أبيه إذ اتضح أنه لم يفِ بوعده. “فليس مكتوم لن يستعلن”.
Dishonesty leads to darkness, choosing the truth is the path to enlightenment!
Since the dawn of the human race, as beings endowed with reason, we have been given choices. We learn from our choices, and from the results of our choices. We often think that the few mundane, everyday choices we make have no impact on us, but this belief could not be further from the truth.
“لأنكم بالدينونة التي بها تدينون تدانون، وبالكيل الذي به تكيلون يكال لكم”(متى2:7).
Through your choices, if you quickly change others through condemnation, dishonesty, greed, or hatred, you are only changing yourself, because you will receive whatever you give.
God has given us the gift of free choice. We are the architects of our own destiny. We can build toward the light and toward the darkness.
We build toward the light when we put the needs of others before our own. We build toward the light when we choose love, forgiveness, honesty, and clarity. As we build toward the light, we lay up treasures in heaven as we do what we do for the glory of God. As we build toward the light, we give God the greatest glory because we use our freedom of choice to choose Him by the way He has laid out for us through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
