<\/p>\nThese two saints lived in the city of Homs during the days of the Roman Emperor Decius, where they were martyred. Galaction was from a pagan family, Cleitophen and Leviticus, a wealthy family who had been deprived of the fruit of the womb for a long time until a begging monk named Onuphrius passed by.<\/p>\n

This is when he saw signs of sadness appearing on the face of the woman, the soon-to-be mother of Galaction. He asked her what was wrong with her, and she answered him that she had no child. He told her that this was planned by God so that she would not present her newborn to the devils, and that she would remain that way until she believed in the true God, Jesus Christ, whom he called upon. So the woman's heart was moved, so he gave her the good news and baptized her. It was only a short time before she became pregnant. At the time of birth, she gave birth to a boy, whom she named Galaction. She convinced her husband, so he believed and was baptized as well.<\/p>\n
The boy grew up and reached the age of twenty, so his father, after the death of his mother, wanted to marry him to a girl suitable for him. When he did not adhere to his Christianity like his wife, he chose a pagan named Epistemi. Since it was not the custom at that time for children to resist their parents in matters of marriage, Galketon acquiesced to the fait accompli. But he refused to approach his bride unless she insisted on becoming a Christian first. When she showed readiness, he taught her, so she believed and was baptized.<\/p>\n
Then a new wave of violence against Christians arose at that time, and both spouses were arrested and brought to trial. When it was proven to the ruler that they were devout Christians and there was no way to convert them to paganism, he handed them over to horrific tortures. The two were beaten and flogged, then the soldiers stripped Abistimi and subjected her to mockery. They also cut off their tongues, amputated their hands and feet, and finally beheaded them. One of Galaction's servants, called Avtolius, came and removed their remains and buried them. He was the one who wrote their biography.<\/p>\n
