Se convirti\u00f3 al cristianismo y fue bautizado (en el a\u00f1o 350) tras una minuciosa b\u00fasqueda de la verdad que encontr\u00f3 en la Santa Biblia, especialmente en el comienzo del Evangelio de San Juan. El hecho de la encarnaci\u00f3n del Verbo de Dios lo atrajo a la fe en Cristo como Salvador, diciendo: \u201cEntend\u00ed que el Verbo se hizo carne para hacer posible que el cuerpo (humano) ascendiera a Dios\u201d. Poco tiempo despu\u00e9s de su adopci\u00f3n, y despu\u00e9s de que qued\u00f3 vacante la sede episcopal de su ciudad, todos los creyentes de su iglesia lo eligieron obispo.<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>San Hilari\u00f3n (356-361) fue exiliado a Frigia (en la actual Turqu\u00eda) por su postura contra la herej\u00eda arriana, por lo que tambi\u00e9n fue llamado \u201cAtanasio de Occidente\u201d en honor a San Atanasio el Grande, obispo de Alejandr\u00eda y el principal defensor de la fe ortodoxa frente a Arrio. Su exilio a Frigia le benefici\u00f3 porque le dio la oportunidad de aprender m\u00e1s sobre la teolog\u00eda oriental. Despu\u00e9s de su regreso a su pa\u00eds, trabaj\u00f3 para restaurar la unidad all\u00ed con un esp\u00edritu lleno de paz y perd\u00f3n hacia quienes lo decepcionaron durante su terrible experiencia. Muri\u00f3 el 13 de enero del a\u00f1o 367 y la Iglesia celebra el d\u00eda de su muerte.<\/p>\n<p>San Hilari\u00f3n tiene muchas obras, especialmente sobre interpretaci\u00f3n b\u00edblica. Su lengua se distingue por su elocuencia, hasta el punto de que San Jer\u00f3nimo lo llam\u00f3 \u201cel r\u00edo (R\u00f3dano) del enunciado latino\u201d. Concede la m\u00e1xima importancia al conocimiento b\u00edblico, como todos los Padres de la Iglesia que ten\u00edan la Biblia en el centro de su vida y en la base de las doctrinas que defend\u00edan: \u00c9l mismo dice: \u201cEl conocimiento de las doctrinas surge de los Libros Sagrados, y la expulsi\u00f3n de los demonios se logra con la menci\u00f3n del nombre de Jesucristo\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>La m\u00e1s destacada y famosa de sus obras es, sin duda, \u201cSobre la Trinidad\u201d. Este libro, que fue escrito en etapas a lo largo de cinco a\u00f1os, est\u00e1 dividido en doce libros. El escritor analiz\u00f3 detalladamente todos los temas que se debat\u00edan en esa \u00e9poca, destac\u00f3 la necesidad de creer en el Padre, el Hijo y el Esp\u00edritu Santo, el \u00fanico Dios, dijo al respecto que Dios es \u201cuno\u201d pero \u201cno es un individuo\u201d. Reafirma la divinidad del Verbo encarnado, que se dign\u00f3 tomar nuestra naturaleza humana para glorificarla en su bendita resurrecci\u00f3n. Frente al misterio de la Sant\u00edsima Trinidad, Hilari\u00f3n permanece escuchando la voz de Dios y meditando en la Santa Biblia: \u201cConocer plenamente a Dios es saber que es imposible no s\u00f3lo conocerlo, sino incluso expresarlo. Por la fe lo sabes, por la adoraci\u00f3n lo sabes, y s\u00f3lo la adoraci\u00f3n permite que se exprese\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Comentando las palabras de Jesucristo: \u201cId ahora y haced disc\u00edpulos a todas las naciones, bautiz\u00e1ndolos en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Esp\u00edritu Santo\u201d (Mateo 28,19), dice el obispo de Poitiers, despu\u00e9s llamando al Padre \u201cel Creador\u201d, al Hijo \u201cel Hijo Unig\u00e9nito\u201d y al Esp\u00edritu Santo \u201cel Don\u201d: \u201cEl Creador de todas las cosas es uno, porque \u201ctenemos un solo Dios, el Padre, de quien provienen todas las cosas\u201d. \u201d(1 Corintios 8:6), y \u201cun solo Esp\u00edritu\u201d (Efesios 4:4), un don que llena todas las cosas\u201d. Tambi\u00e9n dice del Hijo, incluso despu\u00e9s de su encarnaci\u00f3n, que es imagen del Padre: \u201cla imagen viva del Dios vivo, la forma m\u00e1s perfecta, el sello de Dios\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>San Hilari\u00f3n contempla el misterio de la encarnaci\u00f3n y dice que el Hijo de Dios, despu\u00e9s de hacerse hombre, sigui\u00f3 siendo plenamente Dios, y afirma: \u201cY si Cristo, en su nacimiento, sufrimientos y muerte, estuvo sujeto a todos los estados de nuestra naturaleza humana, entonces vivi\u00f3 estos acontecimientos en la plenitud de su poder divino, porque \u00e9l mismo es el principio de su nacimiento, y es quien quiso sufrir mientras pudo no sufrir, y mientras fue siempre vivo, quer\u00eda morir\u201d. Nuestro santo contin\u00faa diciendo: \u201cDios quiso hacerse hombre para que el hombre habite siempre en Dios. Dios quiso sufrir para liberarnos del cautiverio de Satan\u00e1s y del pecado. Dios quer\u00eda que muriera para que no quedara ning\u00fan poder (sobre los humanos). Por eso Dios naci\u00f3 y tom\u00f3 nuestro cuerpo para devolvernos la primera inocencia\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>San Hilari\u00f3n destaca la importancia del sacramento de la acci\u00f3n de gracias (la Divina Misa) en que la Comuni\u00f3n nos une a Cristo, y en esto dice: \u201cSi Cristo verdaderamente tom\u00f3 nuestro cuerpo, entonces en la Misa verdaderamente comemos su cuerpo\u201d. Desde aqu\u00ed somos uno porque el Padre est\u00e1 en \u00e9l y \u00e9l en nosotros\u201d. Finalmente, nuestro santo cree que la Iglesia permanecer\u00e1 para siempre, por grandes que sean las persecuciones y los pecados humanos, y describe el estado de la Iglesia en sus d\u00edas a partir del incidente de las zarzas ardientes del Antiguo Testamento: dice: \u201c Mois\u00e9s vio las zarzas ardiendo sin ser quemadas. As\u00ed es como las persecuciones y los pecados de los pecadores inflaman a la Iglesia sin quemarnos a nosotros\u201d. Con personas como San Hilari\u00f3n, la Iglesia continuar\u00e1 hasta que Cristo venga nuevamente y entre en Su gloria para
