\"SanEfr\u00e9n el Sirio, o Efr\u00e9n el Sirio, o Efr\u00e9n de Nisibini, o Efr\u00e9n de Rahawi, apodado \u201cEl Arpa del Esp\u00edritu Santo\u201d, es el padre de habla sir\u00edaca m\u00e1s destacado de la Iglesia Ortodoxa y el mayor poeta eclesi\u00e1stico de la literatura sir\u00edaca. Efr\u00e9n naci\u00f3 alrededor del a\u00f1o 306 en la ciudad de Nisibis en Mesopotamia. No sabemos nada de su familia, algunos confirman que era cristiana, otros lo descartan, destacando que su padre era un sacerdote pagano y que Efr\u00e9n se convirti\u00f3 al cristianismo siendo joven, y estudi\u00f3 con Jacob, el obispo de su ciudad y se benefici\u00f3 de su conocimiento y compa\u00f1\u00eda.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Jacob lo orden\u00f3 di\u00e1cono evang\u00e9lico y mantuvo su diaconado toda su vida, predicando, ense\u00f1ando y cantando las canciones m\u00e1s maravillosas y la mejor poes\u00eda religiosa. Dej\u00f3 Nisibis despu\u00e9s de que cayera en manos de los persas en el a\u00f1o 363 y vivi\u00f3 en Edesa (Odessa en griego o Urfa) hasta que Dios falleci\u00f3 en el a\u00f1o 373. Fue un importante centro cristiano y cultural, ya que all\u00ed se encontraron las culturas griega y sir\u00edaca. . En Edesa, sirvi\u00f3 a la iglesia como di\u00e1cono, predicador que interpretaba la Santa Biblia, te\u00f3logo que luchaba contra las herej\u00edas, poeta que compon\u00eda canciones espirituales y ermita\u00f1o solitario cuando ten\u00eda la oportunidad. Avram muri\u00f3 despu\u00e9s de haber sido infectado por la epidemia que destruy\u00f3 a la poblaci\u00f3n de la regi\u00f3n de Edesa. La iglesia celebra su memoria el 28 de enero.<\/p>\n

\"SanSus obras m\u00e1s importantes, sin duda, son los numerosos cantos e himnos espirituales que compuso. En este \u00e1mbito, es dif\u00edcil comprender todas las obras de Avram y distinguir las aut\u00e9nticas de las que se le atribuyen. Vale la pena se\u00f1alar que en sir\u00edaco hay dos tipos principales de poes\u00eda: memer y midrash. En cuanto al memer, es un sistema que se lee y no se canta, y sus versos vienen en un tipo de intersecci\u00f3n, y los versos del memer pueden llegar a miles de versos, por lo que el memer puede llevar una variedad de material educativo. En cuanto al midrash, es un sistema que se canta en una canci\u00f3n y sus versos est\u00e1n numerados. Avram destac\u00f3 en ambos estilos y fue, en sus oraciones y madaris, la lengua de la fe ortodoxa.<\/p>\n

Lo probado por Efr\u00e9n en poemas e himnos, mencionamos: 65 midrash \u201ccontra las herej\u00edas\u201d en los que el autor atacaba los errores de los astr\u00f3logos (la gente del siglo XXI todav\u00eda sigue sus interpretaciones) y de algunos herejes; 78 himnos \u201cSobre la fe\u201d en los que atac\u00f3 a los arrianos que negaban la divinidad de Jesucristo, incluidos 51 himnos \u201cSobre el para\u00edso\u201d en los que canta sobre el esplendor del cielo. 12 himnos \u201cSobre los panes sin levadura\u201d que celebran la pasi\u00f3n y resurrecci\u00f3n de Cristo; 25 himnos \u201cSobre la Iglesia\u201d, 15 himnos \u201cSobre la Virginidad\u201d y otros sobre la crucifixi\u00f3n y el ayuno.<\/p>\n

San Efr\u00e9n es famoso por ser el autor de la Oraci\u00f3n Penitencial que nos acompa\u00f1a en todas las oraciones de la Gran Cuaresma, y por su importancia la citaremos \u00edntegramente:<\/p>\n

\u201cOh Se\u00f1or y Due\u00f1o de mi vida, l\u00edbrame del esp\u00edritu de ociosidad y curiosidad, del amor al liderazgo y de la charla ociosa, y conc\u00e9deme, tu siervo pecador, el esp\u00edritu de castidad, humildad de pensamiento, paciencia y amor. S\u00ed, Rey m\u00edo y Dios m\u00edo, conc\u00e9deme conocer mis pecados y faltas, y no juzgar a mis hermanos, porque bendito eres por los siglos, Am\u00e9n\u201d.<\/p>\n

Esta oraci\u00f3n, despu\u00e9s de la oraci\u00f3n del \u201cPadre Nuestro\u201d, es una oraci\u00f3n ejemplar, ya que resume todo lo que permite al creyente orar y pedir a Dios. San Efr\u00e9n pidi\u00f3 en su testamento: \u201cTreinta d\u00edas despu\u00e9s de mi muerte ofrecer\u00e1s el santo sacrificio por m\u00ed, porque los muertos se benefician de los sacrificios ofrecidos por los vivos\u201d. La Misa re\u00fane a muertos y vivos, porque no hay muertos en Cristo. Por las intercesiones de San Efr\u00e9n, que vive contigo, oh Se\u00f1or Jes\u00fas, ten piedad de nosotros y s\u00e1lvanos.<\/p>\n

Las canciones de Efr\u00e9n no s\u00f3lo eran ricas en im\u00e1genes po\u00e9ticas, sino que tambi\u00e9n eran teol\u00f3gica e ideol\u00f3gicamente profundas. Por ejemplo, dice que el Para\u00edso fue restituido a la humanidad en la Iglesia, que es m\u00e1s espl\u00e9ndida y m\u00e1s bella que el Jard\u00edn del Ed\u00e9n, que era s\u00f3lo una imagen del mismo: \u201cPor un lado, Dios plant\u00f3 el Para\u00edso espl\u00e9ndido, y por otro por otro lado, \u00c9l construy\u00f3 la Iglesia pura\u201d. Efr\u00e9n cant\u00f3 a Cristo como el nuevo Ad\u00e1n que reabri\u00f3 el Para\u00edso, diciendo: \u201cBendito el que con su cruz abri\u00f3 el para\u00edso\u201d y \u201cbendito el que agrad\u00f3 a Ad\u00e1n\u201d, y tambi\u00e9n: \u201cbendito el que nos libert\u00f3 para que no se pierda su ejemplo\u201d. capturado\u201d y \u201cbendito el que nos salv\u00f3 del cautiverio\u201d, y tambi\u00e9n dijo \u201cBendito el que conquista el para\u00edso de la vida\u201d.
