Saint Nicolas (1880-1956) L&#039;une des figures les plus importantes de l&#039;\u00c9glise serbe du XXe si\u00e8cle, po\u00e8te, \u00e9crivain et pr\u00e9dicateur, surnomm\u00e9 le Chrysostome serbe.<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s des \u00e9tudes \u00e0 Belgrade et en Suisse, il entre dans un monast\u00e8re, est ordonn\u00e9 pr\u00eatre en 1909 et devient professeur \u00e0 l&#039;Institut th\u00e9ologique. Il fut envoy\u00e9 en Grande-Bretagne et en Am\u00e9rique pendant la Premi\u00e8re Guerre mondiale avec pour mission de d\u00e9fendre la cause serbe. De retour dans son pays en 1919, il fut \u00e9lu \u00e9v\u00eaque du dioc\u00e8se de Zica, puis transf\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 Orchid puis \u00e0 Vitola.<\/p>\n<p>Son activit\u00e9 s&#039;intensifie entre les deux guerres et il commence \u00e0 enseigner, pr\u00eacher et \u00e9crire sans interruption. Il a soutenu un vaste mouvement de la\u00efcs engag\u00e9s au sein de l\u2019\u00c9glise appel\u00e9 \u00ab Communaut\u00e9 chr\u00e9tienne orthodoxe populaire \u00bb. Il se rendait p\u00e9riodiquement \u00e0 la Montagne Sainte et y rencontra le P\u00e8re Silouan (Antonov), canonis\u00e9 en 1988, et ils devinrent amis. Les nazis l&#039;ont emprisonn\u00e9 pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, puis l&#039;ont transf\u00e9r\u00e9 au camp de Dasho en Allemagne avec le patriarche serbe Gavril. Lorsque la Yougoslavie est devenue un pays communiste apr\u00e8s la guerre, Mgr Nicholas a immigr\u00e9 aux \u00c9tats-Unis, o\u00f9 il a enseign\u00e9 la th\u00e9ologie au s\u00e9minaire Saint-Vladimir de New York et au s\u00e9minaire Saint-Tikhon de Pennsylvanie.<\/p>\n<p>Il mourut, laissant de nombreux livres en langue serbe sur la spiritualit\u00e9, la d\u00e9fense de l&#039;\u00c9glise et la vie des saints, ainsi qu&#039;un livre d&#039;\u00e9ducation chr\u00e9tienne intitul\u00e9 \u00ab La foi des saints \u00bb.
