La d\u00e9nomination des \u00ab T\u00e9moins de J\u00e9hovah \u00bb remonte \u00e0 1931, comme mentionn\u00e9 pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment. Cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 mentionn\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois par le juge Rutherford, le deuxi\u00e8me pr\u00e9sident de l'organisation, dans la d\u00e9claration finale de la Conf\u00e9rence de Columbus dans l'Ohio, aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Avant cela et depuis 1874, le groupe d\u00e9cidait de se donner, selon les circonstances, diff\u00e9rents noms, notamment \u00ab \u00e9tudiants de la Bible \u00bb. Russell, le fondateur de l\u2019organisation, et Rutherford n\u2019ont trouv\u00e9 aucune honte \u00e0 appeler le groupe \u00ab chr\u00e9tiens \u00bb. Rutherford les a \u00e9galement appel\u00e9s \u00ab les vrais disciples de J\u00e9sus-Christ \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Le nouveau nom est totalement in\u00e9dit. Ni les gens de l\u2019Ancien Testament ne s\u2019appelaient ainsi, ni les disciples du Seigneur J\u00e9sus-Christ, ni l\u2019\u00c9glise apr\u00e8s eux jusqu\u2019au vingti\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. De plus, le mot \u00ab J\u00e9hovah \u00bb n'apparaissait dans aucun des livres du Nouveau Testament, pas m\u00eame dans la Septante - la traduction grecque de l'Ancien Testament, qui \u00e9tait courante \u00e0 l'\u00e9poque du Seigneur J\u00e9sus et a \u00e9t\u00e9 adopt\u00e9e par les \u00e9vang\u00e9liques. , l'ap\u00f4tre Paul et les autres auteurs des livres du Nouveau Testament. Les Juifs eux-m\u00eames rempla\u00e7aient le nom \u00ab J\u00e9hovah \u00bb par \u00ab Adona\u00ef \u00bb, signifiant Seigneur, et \u00ab Elohim \u00bb, signifiant Dieu.<\/p>\n

Quant au nom donn\u00e9 aux disciples du Seigneur J\u00e9sus-Christ, au d\u00e9but, il s\u2019agissait de \u00ab disciples \u00bb. Parmi ceux-ci se trouvent les douze disciples (Matthieu 10\u00a0:1), les soixante-dix disciples (Luc 10) et la multitude de disciples (Luc 19\u00a0:37) qui ont connu personnellement le Seigneur J\u00e9sus, puis les croyants en Lui en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral (Actes 6). . Peu \u00e0 peu, un autre nom leur est venu : \u00ab Chr\u00e9tiens \u00bb. Dans Actes 11\u00a0:\u00a026, les disciples furent pour la premi\u00e8re fois appel\u00e9s chr\u00e9tiens \u00e0 Antioche. Au d\u00e9but, les disciples ne s\u2019appelaient pas \u00ab chr\u00e9tiens \u00bb ; Qui leur a donn\u00e9 ce nom ? Les pa\u00efens l\u2019ont tr\u00e8s probablement utilis\u00e9 comme un reproche. L\u2019opinion g\u00e9n\u00e9rale des disciples du Christ \u00e9tait, \u00e0 une certaine \u00e9poque, qu\u2019ils \u00e9taient de \u00ab simples imb\u00e9ciles \u00bb. Tacite, l'historien pa\u00efen (55-120 apr\u00e8s JC), les consid\u00e9rait comme telles. Dans ce sens, peut-\u00eatre, la r\u00e9ponse du roi Agrippa \u00e0 l\u2019ap\u00f4tre Paul : \u00ab Avec peu de choses, vous me persuaderez de devenir chr\u00e9tien \u00bb (Actes 26\u00a0:28). Quoi qu\u2019il en soit, il semble que l\u2019administration romaine ait \u00e9t\u00e9 confront\u00e9e au probl\u00e8me de nommer les disciples du Seigneur J\u00e9sus, dans la seconde moiti\u00e9 du premier si\u00e8cle, pour les distinguer des Juifs. Mais les chr\u00e9tiens adopt\u00e8rent bient\u00f4t le nouveau nom. La premi\u00e8re \u00e9p\u00eetre de l'Ap\u00f4tre Pierre utilise le mot \u00ab chr\u00e9tien \u00bb tel que nous l'utilisons aujourd'hui : \u00ab Qu'aucun de vous ne souffre comme meurtrier, ou voleur, ou malfaiteur, ou se m\u00eale des affaires d'autrui, mais s'il est en tant que chr\u00e9tien, qu'il n'ait pas honte, mais qu'il glorifie Dieu de cette mani\u00e8re \u00bb (1 Pierre 4\u00a0:\u00a015-16).<\/p>\n

\u00c0 la lumi\u00e8re de ces faits historiques et donn\u00e9es bibliques, le lecteur est en droit de se demander : pourquoi les \u00ab T\u00e9moins de J\u00e9hovah \u00bb ont-ils adopt\u00e9 ce nom ?<\/p>\n

Les raisons sont sans doute multiples, dont certaines sont personnelles, capricieuses, qualitatives, et dont certaines sont situationnelles et li\u00e9es \u00e0 la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 de l'organisation au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es trente du XXe si\u00e8cle. Cependant, quiconque lit certains des paragraphes susmentionn\u00e9s de la \u00ab D\u00e9claration de Columbus \u00bb conclura que la nouvelle d\u00e9signation est bas\u00e9e sur trois consid\u00e9rations\u00a0:<\/p>\n

  1. Il y a une promesse proph\u00e9tique de Dieu \u00e0 Sion selon laquelle elle sera appel\u00e9e d'un nouveau nom d\u00e9termin\u00e9 par la bouche du Seigneur (\u00c9sa\u00efe 62\u00a0:\u00a01-2).<\/li>\n
  2. Ce nom est \u00ab T\u00e9moins de J\u00e9hovah \u00bb en accomplissement de la parole proph\u00e9tique : \u00ab Vous \u00eates mes t\u00e9moins, dit l\u2019\u00c9ternel (J\u00e9hovah) \u00bb (\u00c9sa\u00efe 43\u00a0:\u00a010-12).<\/li>\n
  3. Le groupe des t\u00e9moins est propri\u00e9taire du nom car c'est le Seigneur Dieu lui-m\u00eame qui le leur a donn\u00e9.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Oui, c'est ce que disent les t\u00e9moins. C'est Dieu lui-m\u00eame qui en a fait ses t\u00e9moins. Avec sa bouche, il les nomma. Cela s'est produit \u00e0 l'automne 1922, mais les T\u00e9moins n'ont pris conscience de l'affaire qu'en 1931, comme ils l'ont mentionn\u00e9 dans leur livre \u00ab Justification \u00bb (p. 52). Avant cela, selon leurs affirmations, le Seigneur J\u00e9sus-Christ, vers 1874 - et la r\u00e9f\u00e9rence ici est \u00e0 Russell et au premier groupe - avait commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 donner aux disciples fid\u00e8les \u00ab une compr\u00e9hension plus claire des v\u00e9rit\u00e9s fondamentales que lui et ses ap\u00f4tres enseign\u00e9es, des v\u00e9rit\u00e9s qui avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 obscurcies par de fausses doctrines pendant de longs si\u00e8cles. En d\u2019autres termes, ce que Rutherford veut dire ici, c\u2019est que dix-huit si\u00e8cles se sont \u00e9coul\u00e9s sans qu\u2019il n\u2019y ait eu un seul v\u00e9ritable t\u00e9moin de Dieu (J\u00e9hovah) jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019arriv\u00e9e des \u00ab T\u00e9moins de J\u00e9hovah \u00bb. Croyez-le ou pas !!!. Quant au christianisme, selon l'organisation, il s'agit d'une invention satanique. C\u2019est pourquoi ils disent par exemple dans le livre \u00ab Riche \u00bb cinq ans plus tard : \u00ab Apr\u00e8s la mort des douze ap\u00f4tres, Satan commen\u00e7a, furtivement et progressivement, \u00e0 construire un corps ou un syst\u00e8me religieux qui est depuis connu comme chr\u00e9tien. \u00bb (p. 243).<\/p>\n

    Comment r\u00e9agissons-nous \u00e0 des propos de ce genre ?! Ce que nous avons dit est suffisant.
