\"L'apostolo\u00c8 Anania, il discepolo citato nel nono capitolo del Libro degli Atti. Gli apostoli lo nominarono primo vescovo di Damasco e molti pagani credettero in Ges\u00f9 Cristo attraverso di lui. Il governatore pagano della citt\u00e0 lo imprigion\u00f2, lo tortur\u00f2 e poi lo gett\u00f2 fuori dalle mura della citt\u00e0, dove mor\u00ec. La chiesa lo festeggia il primo ottobre. C'\u00e8 una chiesa a lui intitolata a Damasco, basata sulle rovine della casa dove incontr\u00f2 Saulo alla fine della strada diritta.<\/p>\n

Anania si trovava a Damasco quando arriv\u00f2 Saulo (l'apostolo Paolo), che era partito da Gerusalemme con le lettere del sommo sacerdote alle comunit\u00e0 ebraiche di Damasco, affinch\u00e9 se avesse trovato persone che seguivano Ges\u00f9 Cristo, uomini e donne, avrebbe condurli legati a Gerusalemme, perch\u00e9 i Giudei ritornavano l\u00e0 per le loro questioni legali dal sommo sacerdote a Gerusalemme.<\/p>\n

Lungo la strada, il Signore Ges\u00f9 apparve a Saulo in una luce dal cielo. Saulo cadde a terra e ud\u00ec una voce che gli diceva: "Saulo, Saulo, perch\u00e9 mi perseguiti?". Era terrorizzato e molto confuso. Poi chiese: \u201cSignore, cosa vuoi che faccia?\u201d Allora il Signore gli disse di entrare in citt\u00e0 e che gli fosse detto cosa avrebbe dovuto fare. Entr\u00f2 dunque e per tre giorni non mangi\u00f2 n\u00e9 bevve n\u00e9 vide, mentre pregava aspettando un messaggero di Dio.<\/p>\n

Questo messaggero che il Signore Ges\u00f9 Cristo mand\u00f2 a Saulo \u00e8 Anania.<\/p>\n

Si trova anche nel libro degli Atti degli Apostoli che il Signore disse in visione ad Anania di recarsi nel vicolo chiamato Diritta e di informarsi in casa di quello chiamato Giuda riguardo a un uomo di Tarso di nome Saulo e imporgli la mano cos\u00ec affinch\u00e9 potesse riacquistare la vista. Anania a prima vista temeva la cosa, perch\u00e9 Saulo venne a Damasco con l'intenzione di arrestare altri credenti e gettarli in prigione per ordine del sommo sacerdote. Ma il Signore calm\u00f2 il timore di Anania dicendogli: \u00abVa', perch\u00e9 questo \u00e8 per me un vaso scelto per portare il mio nome davanti alle nazioni, ai re e ai figli d'Israele; poich\u00e9 io gli mostrer\u00f2 quanto dovr\u00e0 soffrire per la mia per l'amor del nome."<\/p>\n

Anania and\u00f2 come il Signore gli aveva ordinato, entr\u00f2 nella casa e pose le mani su Saulo, dicendo: \u00abFratello Saulo, il Signore Ges\u00f9, che ti \u00e8 apparso lungo il tuo cammino, mi ha mandato affinch\u00e9 tu riacquisti la vista e tu sia pieno di Spirito Santo\u201d. Subito a Saulo caddero dagli occhi come delle scaglie e subito ricuper\u00f2 la vista, si alz\u00f2, fu battezzato, mangi\u00f2 e si rafforz\u00f2.<\/p>\n

Questo \u00e8 tutto ci\u00f2 che dicono di Anania gli Atti degli Apostoli. Tuttavia, nell'eredit\u00e0 si menziona che era uno dei settanta apostoli e che fu nominato vescovo di Damasco e predic\u00f2 la parola divina a Beit Jibrin in Palestina e port\u00f2 alla fede molti pagani. Si dice che il suo lavoro missionario a Beit Jibreen gli sia costato la vita e che sia morto lapidato. La Santa Chiesa lo festeggia il primo ottobre.<\/p>\n
