Biskupi Rzymu otoczyli klasztorem swoj\u0105 opiek\u0119, wydaj\u0105c w jego imieniu szereg oficjalnych tyran\u00f3w, m.in. tyranem Grzegorza IX w roku 1238, tyranem Innocentego IV w roku 1250 i tyranem Orubana IV w roku 1262. Z zapis\u00f3w tych wynika, \u017ce klasztor Balamand by\u0142 najwi\u0119kszym klasztorem franko\u0144skim w Emirat Trypolisu, a w po\u0142owie XIII wieku podlega\u0142 biskupstwu Bejrutu. W\u015br\u00f3d jego pierwszych prezydent\u00f3w by\u0142 Piotr Niemiec. Ko\u015bci\u00f3\u0142 Matki Bo\u017cej z Balamand jest skierowany na p\u00f3\u0142nocny wsch\u00f3d i obejmuje du\u017c\u0105 absyd\u0119, jeden rynek i jeden o\u0142tarz.
