Mas o Senhor Deus, que n\u00e3o deseja a morte do pecador at\u00e9 que ele se arrependa, moveu seu cora\u00e7\u00e3o ao arrependimento. Um dia, enquanto B\u00e1rbaro estava em uma caverna contemplando seus bens roubados, a gra\u00e7a de Deus tocou seu cora\u00e7\u00e3o e ele foi tomado por um profundo sentimento de morte. Ele percebeu, como nunca antes, a inevitabilidade da morte e o temor do julgamento iminente. Todo o mal que havia cometido em sua vida veio \u00e0 sua frente, e um profundo sentimento de remorso se apoderou de seu cora\u00e7\u00e3o. Ele resolveu se arrepender perante o Senhor, dizendo em seu cora\u00e7\u00e3o: &quot;Se o Senhor n\u00e3o rejeitou o ladr\u00e3o arrependido \u00e0 Sua direita, talvez Ele me perdoe tamb\u00e9m, segundo a Sua grande miseric\u00f3rdia&quot;. B\u00e1rbaro saiu da caverna e de seu conte\u00fado e foi \u00e0 igreja mais pr\u00f3xima. Confessou seus pecados ao sacerdote e permaneceu com ele.<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>S\u00e3o B\u00e1rbaro seguiu o sacerdote de uma maneira que ningu\u00e9m jamais imaginara. Andava sobre as m\u00e3os e os p\u00e9s, pois n\u00e3o se considerava digno de ser tratado como um ser humano depois de ter se comportado de maneira inferior \u00e0 dos animais. Viveu no curral, entre o gado, e comia o que os animais comiam. Assim, depois de B\u00e1rbaro ter feito uma pequena penit\u00eancia por seus pecados, e o sacerdote, desejando p\u00f4-lo \u00e0 prova, concedeu-lhe a absolvi\u00e7\u00e3o e o mandou embora.<\/p>\n<p>Barbaros viveu no deserto por doze anos descal\u00e7o e sem nada para cobrir o corpo. Suportou o calor e o frio, e a sujeira acumulou-se sobre ele at\u00e9 que ficou completamente preto.<\/p>\n<p>Finalmente, o Senhor Deus revelou-lhe que os seus pecados tinham sido perdoados e que morreria como m\u00e1rtir. Pouco tempo depois, alguns mercadores passaram pelo local onde ele jazia. Notaram algo a mexer-se na relva densa e, alarmados, dispararam as suas flechas na sua dire\u00e7\u00e3o. Ao aproximarem-se, ficaram horrorizados ao constatar que tinham atingido um homem com ferimentos fatais. Barbaros acalmou-os, disse-lhes quem era e pediu-lhes que informassem o sacerdote a quem ele se tinha confessado anteriormente. Imediatamente, exalou o seu \u00faltimo suspiro.<\/p>\n<p>O sacerdote chegou e, guiado pela luz celestial que brilhava sobre ele, localizou o corpo e o sepultou onde ele havia sido morto. Depois disso, mirra come\u00e7ou a fluir do local e teve um efeito curativo. Seus restos mortais s\u00e3o preservados hoje no Mosteiro de Kalios, na Tess\u00e1lia, perto da cidade de Larissa.<\/p>\n<p>A igreja o homenageia no dia 6 de
