N\u00e3o se pode provar com certeza qual \u00e9 a parte da hist\u00f3ria e qual \u00e9 a parte do mito nas tradi\u00e7\u00f5es relacionadas com Santa Maria do Egito. (20)<\/a>. \u00c9 melhor focar apenas no fato que a igreja quis estabelecer, como afirmamos na ora\u00e7\u00e3o da madrugada, (um modelo de arrependimento). \u00c9 um s\u00edmbolo de convers\u00e3o, arrependimento e austeridade. Expressa, neste \u00faltimo domingo da Quaresma, o \u00faltimo e mais urgente convite que a Igreja nos dirige antes dos dias da Paix\u00e3o e da Santa Ressurrei\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A mensagem recitada na Missa (Hebreus 9:11-14) compara o minist\u00e9rio de Cristo com o minist\u00e9rio do sumo sacerdote hebreu. Este homem entrou, uma vez por ano, no Santo dos Santos, mas Cristo (entrou uma vez no Santo dos Santos e obteve a reden\u00e7\u00e3o eterna). O sumo sacerdote purificava os crentes e os santificava aspergindo sobre eles o sangue e as cinzas dos sacrif\u00edcios. (Quanto mais o sangue de Cristo, que atrav\u00e9s do Esp\u00edrito eterno se oferece a Deus sem censura, purificar\u00e1 as vossas consci\u00eancias das obras mortais, para que possam adorar o Deus vivo?)<\/p>\n

O Evangelho (Marcos 10,32-45) descreve a ascens\u00e3o de Jesus a Jerusal\u00e9m, antes da sua paix\u00e3o. Jesus separou-se dos doze disc\u00edpulos e come\u00e7ou a dizer-lhes que seria tra\u00eddo, julgado, morto e ressuscitado. No limiar da Semana Santa, ocorre-nos que o Salvador nos isola para uma conversa \u00edntima na qual nos explica o segredo da reden\u00e7\u00e3o? Pedimos ao Mestre que nos torne mais conscientes do que est\u00e1 acontecendo conosco no Calv\u00e1rio? Damos a Jesus a possibilidade de uma conversa t\u00e3o secreta? Estamos buscando essas oportunidades para encontrar o Senhor?<\/p>\n

Ent\u00e3o, eis que os dois filhos de Zebedeu aproximaram-se de Jesus e pediram-lhe que se sentasse na sua gl\u00f3ria, um \u00e0 sua direita e outro \u00e0 sua esquerda. Ent\u00e3o Jesus fez-lhes - e faz-nos tamb\u00e9m - esta pergunta: (Consegues beber o c\u00e1lice que eu vou beber?). Ent\u00e3o o mestre explicou aos disc\u00edpulos que a verdadeira grandeza est\u00e1 no servi\u00e7o: (O Filho do Homem n\u00e3o veio para ser servido, mas para servir e dar a sua vida em resgate por muitos).<\/p>\n

A noite deste quinto domingo da Quaresma d\u00e1 um raio de luz para inaugurar a Grande Semana, no pr\u00f3ximo domingo. O pr\u00f3ximo domingo ser\u00e1 o Domingo de L\u00e1zaro, que Jesus ressuscitou. A ora\u00e7\u00e3o vespertina realizada na noite do quinto domingo da Quaresma prediz que L\u00e1zaro foi ressuscitado dentre os mortos, referindo-se a L\u00e1zaro, o pobre homem da par\u00e1bola evang\u00e9lica (Lucas 16:19-31).<\/p>\n

(Ordena-me ao pobre L\u00e1zaro e salva-me dos castigos do rico... Tenhamos empatia com a sua perseveran\u00e7a e longanimidade.) A Igreja, de certa forma ansiosa por entrar nos dias sant\u00edssimos que ter\u00e3o in\u00edcio na pr\u00f3xima semana, exorta-nos neste domingo a irmos \u00e0 festa que celebraremos sete dias depois: (Cantemos louvores \u00e0 Palma Oferta dominical, ao Senhor que vem em gl\u00f3ria a Jerusal\u00e9m, para matar a morte pelo poder da sua divindade. Preparemos as bandeiras da vit\u00f3ria com boa adora\u00e7\u00e3o, gritando: \u201cHosana ao Criador de todos\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

(20)<\/a> No s\u00e9culo VI, perto do Mosteiro de Soka, no Egito, os turistas homenageavam o t\u00famulo de uma mulher santa chamada Maria, que viveu no deserto como reclusa e arrependida. Isto \u00e9 tudo o que podemos dizer historicamente. No s\u00e9culo VII, o Patriarca de Jerusal\u00e9m, Sofr\u00f4nio, escreveu uma biografia de Maria do Egito que n\u00e3o se baseava em nenhuma fonte hist\u00f3rica aceit\u00e1vel, e tornou-se a base para a literatura popular posterior sobre o assunto.<\/p>\n
