Ele \u00e9 Yakov Holovatyuk, nascido em 27 de novembro de 1894, filho de Varnava e Anna Holovatyuk, na vila ucraniana de Vlya Ilovitsa. Ele era um dos dez filhos. Seu pai trabalhava em qualquer trabalho que podia, at\u00e9 mesmo fazendo moldes para sapatos e motos de neve. Barnava tamb\u00e9m era especialista em ortopedia e Yakov ajudou seu pai nesse assunto quando ele era jovem.<\/p>\n
