وقضى برنامج الاحتفال بمرور ثلاثين سنة على حكم قسطنطين أن ينتقل المجتمعون في صور إلى أورشليم ليكرسوا كنيسة القيامة. فاجتمع في أورشليم لهذه الغاية عدد كبير من الأساقفة وألتف حولهم ألوف المؤمنين. وكان من بين الأساقفة الكسندروس أسقف تسالونيكي وميليس أسقف شوشن ويعقوب أسقف نصيبين. وفي الثالث عشر من أيلول احتفل الأساقفة والمؤمنون بالقداس الإلهي وصلوا لتأييد المملكة وسلام الكنيسة. وفي الرابع عشر من أيلول احتفلوا بارتفاع الصليب المقدس. ومنذ ذلك الحين يصعد أسقف أورشليم في الرابع عشر من أيلول إلى أعلى الكنيسة ويرفع الصليب الذي مات عليه للشعوب أجمعين ليشاهدواه مقدمين له السجود والتكريم ذاكرين رفعه على يد القديسة هيلانة.
“الصليب حافظ كل المسكونة. الصليب جمال الكنيسة. الصليب عزة الملوك. الصليب ثبات المؤمنين. الصليب مجد الملائكة وجرح الشياطين. اليوم يرفع والعالم يتقدس لأنك أيها الجالس مع الآب والروح القدس لما بسطت يديك عليه اجتذبت العالم إلى معرفتك. فأهّل المتكلين عليك لمجدك الإلهي” – المينـاون.
