صديق القديس أنطونيوس الكييفي والأب الروحي للقديس ثيودوسيوس الكييفي. سيم كاهناً واهتمَّ بتصيير الطلاب الجدد رهباناً. بين الذين صاروا رهباناً على يده واحد اسمه أفرام كان صديق أمير كييف إيزاسلاف. غضب الأمير على نيكون وهدَّدهُ إن لم يعد صديقه إليه أن يلقيه في السجن فلم يذعن له. واشتدَّت الأزمة. أخيراً تراجع الأمير خوفاً من غضب الله عليه فترك نيكون بسلام. صار رئيساً لدير الكهوف.
وقد رضي الله عنه ومنّ عليه ببركات جمّة. من ذلك اشتهى أن تزيَّن الكنيسة بالإيقونات فصلّى لذلك بحرارة، وإذ ببعض رسّامي الإيقونات اليونانيين يصلون إلى كييف من القسطنطينية بعد ما ظهر لهم القديسان أنطونيوس وثيودوسيوس، اللذان كانا قد رقدا، وزوَّداهم بالذهب وطلبا منهم التوجّه إلى كييف. أما نيكون فبعد أتعاب نسكية جزيلة رقد بسلام في الرَّب سنة 1066 وقيل لا بل 1088م. بقيت رفاتُهُ غير منحلّة.
