Representatives of the Antiochian Orthodox Church visited the Nizhny Novgorod diocese on September 16-20. The group headed by Archimandrite Pantaleon included monastics living in the Dormition Monastery in Hamatoura in North Lebanon. The pilgrims visited the Holy Trinity-St. Seraphim Diveevo Convent and Nizhny Novgorod. The main aim of the pilgrimage was the veneration of the holy relics of the Venerable Seraphim of Sarov, the portion of which was given to the pilgrims with the blessing of Archbishop Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas. Orthodox people in Lebanon revere this great saint very much.
The guests presented Archbishop Georgy with a portion of the holy relics and an icon of the Holy Martyr Jacob of Hamatoura during their meeting with the hierarch. St. Jacob was the abbot of the Dormition Monastery who was killed by persecutors. Archbishop Georgy thanked the guests for such a valuable gift and their pilgrimage to the holy places of the Nizhny Novgorod region
