The firstborn is the first-born. He is the only son or also the one born before his other brothers. Therefore, if we say that he is the firstborn Son of God, and not the only son, we may imagine him as the firstborn of creatures, as a creature. And since we say of him firstborn and only son, we must retain both of them in our speech about him. The reason why we say of him, “He is the firstborn of all creation” (Col. 1:15), is because he is from God and the creation is also from God, but he is from the essence of God the Father, begotten alone apart from time, truly the only son and the firstborn. And it is not said of him that he is the creature first, because the creation is not from the essence of the Father, but passed by his will from non-existence into being. And he is “the firstborn among many brethren” (Rom. 8:29), because he is also the only son of his mother. And he partook of blood and flesh in our likeness and became man, and we also became in him sons of God, sons by grace and called his brethren. Therefore he said: “I ascend to my Father and your Father” (John 20:17), and he did not say to Our father, but rather To my fatherI mean by nature And your father With grace. He added: My God and your Godand did not say Our God Even if you analyze the content of the concepts, their perspective and their rationale, you will realize that the word “and”Your God It means Creator Lord.
