Everything in the Bible points to Christ, and from this perspective, believers read the books of the Bible in the light of the Lord Jesus. But what does the Book of Psalms mean to us, who live in the twentieth century? The Church has employed the Psalms as very effective hymns in its liturgical system, and there is no liturgical service that is devoid of selected passages from the Psalms. Thus, the use of the Psalms in the prayers of the Orthodox Church has become essential, helping the believer to lift his heart and mind to God. In the Psalms, the believer cries out with joy over God’s victories in him, and also expresses his sorrow over the sins that man commits for various reasons. Hence came this blessed step taken by His Eminence Bishop Paul (Yazigi), who is thanked for his efforts, in order to support the Arab worshipper’s understanding of the Psalms and to clarify the secrets of some of the Psalms that he always prays.

Bishop Paul (Yazigi) has a long experience in the Greek language and can delve into the meanings and expressions of this language. This supports his experience in understanding the Holy Bible in a deeper way. He wants to convey his meditations on the Psalms to his spiritual children and to all those who pray in the Psalms, especially to those who read them daily according to the divisions of the week. He wants to involve everyone in these valuable and nourishing meditations for the soul. With these meditations, he enters into the secrets of the divine word and extracts from it the pearls scattered in it. He expresses that and brings you with him to participate in these pearls, so the words enter the depths of your heart and explode in the heart with faith, hope, repentance and humility. The human being is affected and his bones shake, so tears flow from the eyes in remorse and return to God and throw themselves at His feet with contrition and humility. Bishop Paul explains his meditations on some of the Psalms in a simple, understandable language that can be read by simple people and understood by those with knowledge, who can be elevated and benefited.
