من عائلة مسيحية غنية من أندرينوبوليس، كانت لها عند السلطات التركية والسلطان حظوة. الغنى والنفوذ جعلهما ميخائيل في خدمة المسيحيين، محليّين وغرباء، ممن عانوا من قسوة معاملة الأتراك لهم وأثقلت الضرائب كواهلهم.
غار من نفوذه قوم من الاتراك المتعصبين. اتهموه بالكفر بالله واحتجوا لدى السلطان. أمر السلطان بقتله او يشهر إسلامه. سُجن وهُدِّد فلم يبال. تمسك بإيمانه بالمسيح. جرى قطع هامته في 17 شباط 1490 وأُلقي جسده في النار. بقي حتى العام 1927، سنة طرد المسيحيين من أندرينوبوليس، حامي المدينة.
