تأسست هذه الكنيسة على يد القديسان معادلي الرسل كيرلوس وميثذوس واصبحت كنيسة شبه مستقلة في عام 1923 حتى عام 1998 حيث نالت استقلالها من البطريركية المسكونية ورئيس كنيسة بلاد التشيك والسلوفاك نيكلاوس منذ 14 نيسان سنة 2000 وتشمل 3 أسقفا و300 أبرشية و4 أديرة. و على الرغم من أنهما تحكمان نفسيهما، فإنهما في الواقع كثيرت الاتكال على بطريركية موسكو. عدد الرعايا قليل لا يتجاوز المئة والخمسين ألفاً.
