When he saw hypocrisy rising high and haughty and idolatry rampant, the spirit of the Lord grew strong within him and he could not stand the people in his homeland. He began to speak to them about the living God, the Creator of heaven and earth. The soldiers arrested him and the governor ordered him to offer sacrifices to the idol. Chryscandus refused, so they hung him, beat him and tortured him.
