ولد في قرية قرب كورنثوس. التحق بأحد التجار، خادمًا، في سن الثانية عشرة. تزوج وأنجب، سلك بمخافة الله. أصاب، في عمله نجاحًا. بعض الاتراك حسدوه. اتهموه بأنه أهان نبيّهم محمد. أوقف أمام القاضي فاعترف بالمسيح بجرأة.
أُسلم للجلد وأُلقي في السجن مدمّى. أخرجوه الى الشارع مقيّدًا بسلاسل ثقيلة. أحرقوه قليلاً قليلا ثم قطعوا رأسه.
أحد المسيحيين اشترى جسده وهو اليوم في دير التجلي في الميتيورة (اليونان).
كان تاريخ استشهاده في الرابع عشر من شباط من العام 1554 الميلادي. وهو نفس اليوم الذي تُعيد له فيه الكنيسة.
