Psalm 9
To the end. A Psalm of David. On the secrets of the Son.
* I confess to you, O Lord, with all my heart, and I declare all your wonders.
* I will rejoice and be glad in you, I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.
* When my enemies turn back, they will faint, and perish before your face.
* Because you supported my cause and my right, you ascended to the throne, O Judge of justice.
* I rebuked the nations, and the infidel perished. I blotted out his name for all time, and forever and ever.
* The enemy's swords were completely exhausted, and his cities were destroyed.
* His memory perished with his resonance, but the Lord remains forever.
* He has prepared his throne for judgment, and he will judge the world with justice, and he will judge the peoples with righteousness.
* The Lord has become a refuge for the poor, and a help in times of happiness and sorrow.
* Let those who know your name trust in you, for you have not forsaken those who seek you, O Lord.
* Sing to the Lord who dwells in Zion; proclaim his works among the nations.
* Because when he demands their blood, he remembers and does not forget the cries of the wretched.
* Have mercy on me, O Lord. Look upon my humiliation because of my enemies, O You who lift me up from the gates of death.
* That I may declare all your praises at the gates of the daughter of Zion, and rejoice in your salvation.
* The nations have fallen into the corruption they created. Their feet are caught in the trap they hid.
* The Lord is known to be a judge. The sinner is caught in the works of his hands.
* Let the sinners return to hell and all who have forgotten God.
* The poor are not forgotten until the end, and the patience of the wretched is not lost until the end.
* Arise, O Lord, that man may not prevail; and let the nations be judged before you.
* Set up a lawgiver over them, O Lord, and let the nations know that they are human beings.
* Why do you stand afar off, O Lord, and overlook in the time of trouble?
* When the infidel becomes arrogant, the poor man becomes angry and falls into the traps they have devised.
* Because the sinner boasts of his own lusts, and the unjust is praised (by his likes).
* The sinner has angered the Lord by his intense anger and his claim that God will not demand anything from him. He lives as if there is no God before him.
* His ways are always defiled, and your commandments are despised in his face, and he thinks that he will conquer all his enemies.
* He said in his heart, “I will not be shaken; from generation to generation I will not be troubled.”
* His mouth is full of cursing, bitterness and deceit. Under his tongue is what calls for misery and pain.
* He lies in ambush with the rich, to secretly assassinate the innocent. His eyes watch the poor.
* He lurks like a lion in his den. He lurks to catch the poor. He catches the poor by drawing him into his net.
* And when he brings him into his trap, he crushes him. And after he has ruled over the poor, he bows to the ground and falls.
* Because he said in his heart: God has forgotten and has turned his face away so that he will never look again.
* Arise, O Lord, my God! Let your hands be lifted up! Forget not the poor to the end.
* Why did the infidel anger God? Because he said in his heart: You will not be asked.
* And you have seen, for you know his evil and his hatred, so that you may repay him with your own hands.
* To you and to all the poor. You are the helper of the orphan.
* Break the arm of the sinner, and his sin will be sought out and will not be found again.
* The Lord is King forever and ever; be cut off, you nations, from his land.
* You have heard, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted and the readiness of their hearts; therefore, listen with your ear.
* To rule for the orphan and the weak, so that no one will dare to act tyrannically afterward.
Psalm 10
To the end. A Psalm of David
* In the Lord I trust; how can you say to my soul, ‘Flee like a bird to the mountains’?
* Behold, the sinners have strung the bow, and have prepared the arrows, that they may shoot into the darkness the upright in heart.
* They destroyed what I had built. But what did the friend do?
* The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord's throne is in heaven. His eyes look on the poor, and his eyelids search out the sons of men.
* The Lord examines the righteous and the ungodly, but he who loves injustice hates his own soul.
* He rains snares on sinners, and fire, brimstone, and a violent wind are the portion of their cup.
* For the Lord is just and loves justice, and his face has seen uprightness.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages.
Amen... Hallelujah
Psalm 11
To the end. On the eighth. A Psalm of David
* Save me, O Lord, for there is no righteous person left. Truth has diminished among the children of men.
* Everyone speaks falsely to his neighbor. Their lips are deceitful, and from their heart proceeds deceitful words.
* The Lord will destroy all false speech and the proud tongue.
* And also those who said: We make our tongues utter great things, our lips are our own. So who is our Lord?
* Because of the misery of the poor and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise, says the Lord, and will make salvation known.
* The words of the Lord are like silver refined by the dust, purified seven times.
* You, O Lord, preserve and protect us from this generation and forever.
* The infidels revolve around us, but as you rise, your concern for human beings increases.
Psalm 12
To the end. A Psalm of David
* How long, O Lord, will You forget me? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?
* How long will I think about myself, and suffer in my heart day and night?
* How long will my enemy rise above me?
* Look, and hear me, O Lord my God; enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.
* Lest my enemy say, I have overcome him.
* And he who grieves me rejoices when I stumble, but as for me, I trust in your mercy.
* My heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord who has been kind to me, and I will praise the name of the Lord who is exalted.
Psalm 13
To the end. A Psalm of David.
* The ignorant said in his heart: There is no God.
* They have corrupted their works, and are abominable; there is none who does good, not even one.
* The Lord looked down from heaven on the children of men, to see if anyone understood or sought God.
* They have all turned aside, they have all become defiled. There is none who does good, not even one.
* Do not all the workers of iniquity, who eat up my people as they eat bread, know how to call on the Lord?
* There they were greatly afraid where there was no fear, for the Lord is in the generation of the righteous.
* You have despised the counsel of the poor, for the Lord is his hope.
* Who from Zion will give salvation to Israel? When the Lord restores the captivity of his people, Jacob will rejoice and Israel will exult.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages.
Amen.... Hallelujah.
Psalm 14
Psalm of David
* O Lord, who dwells in your tabernacle? Or who dwells on your holy mountain?
* He who walks blamelessly, who does righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart.
* He who does not deceive with his tongue, nor does evil to his companion, nor does he reproach his neighbors.
* The wicked is despised in his sight, but those who fear the Lord are glorified.
* He swears an oath to his neighbor and does not break his promise. He does not lend his money at interest, nor does he accept bribes from the innocent.
* Whoever does these things will never be shaken.
Psalm 15
Inscription on the monument to David
* Protect me, O Lord, for I trust in You. I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, and You are independent of my needs.”
* The Lord has made his saints, whose land is a wonder, and all his wills are in them.
* Their pain increased, but it quickly went away.
* People stained with blood I will not gather. Their names with my lips I will not mention.
* The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; you restore my inheritance to me.
* The ropes of division were only for my own good, and my inheritance is truly very good.
* I bless the Lord, who has given me understanding; even in the night my reins have disciplined me.
* I have set the Lord always before my eyes; because he is at my right hand, I will not be moved.
* Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices, and my body also will rest in hope.
* For you have not left my soul in hell, nor have you allowed your righteous one to see corruption.
* You have made known to me the paths of life; You fill me with joy before your face; at your right hand are delights forever.
Psalm 16
Psalm of David
* O Lord, hear my justice, give ear to my petition, hear my prayer from unfailing lips.
* Let my judgment come from you, and let my eyes see what is right.
* You have tested my heart; you have searched me by night; you have tried me by fire, and no iniquity was found in me.
* Lest my mouth speak the deeds of men, For the words of your lips I have walked hard ways.
* Direct my steps in your paths, so that my feet do not slip.
* O God, I have called upon You because You answer me, so incline Your ear and listen to my words.
* Make your mercies wonderful, O Savior of those who trust in you. Protect me, O Lord, from those who resist your right hand, like the apple of the eye.
* Under the shadow of your wings you hide me, from the face of the unbelievers who have made me miserable.
* My enemies have besieged my soul; they have shut up their fat, and their mouths have spoken of pride.
* And as they threw me out, now they surround me and watch me with their eyes to throw me to the ground.
* They lay in wait for me like a lion ready to prey, and like a young lion crouching in ambush.
* Arise, O Lord, outrun them and hinder them. Deliver my soul by your sword from the infidel, and from the enemies of your hand.
* Separate them in their lives, O Lord, from the few on earth, for their bellies are filled with their treasures.
* Their children were fed up with it and left the leftovers for their grandchildren.
* As for me, righteousness will appear before your face; I will be satisfied when your glory appears to me.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages.
Amen.... Hallelujah
Psalm 17
To the end. To the servant of the Lord David. The Lord spoke the words of this song in the day when he delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul, saying:
* I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my strength, my refuge, and my deliverer.
* The Lord is my helper, in him I trust. He is my defender, the horn of my salvation, and my upholder.
* I call upon the Lord with praises, and I am delivered from my enemies.
* The pangs of death encompassed me, and the streams of iniquity terrified me.
* The pains of hell surrounded me, and the snares of death overtook me.
* In my sorrow I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God.
* He heard my voice from his holy temple, and my cry before him, and it came into his ears.
* The earth quaked and trembled; the foundations of the mountains shook and trembled because of the wrath of God against them.
* Smoke rose from his wrath, and fire burned before his face, and coals were kindled from it.
* He bowed the heavens and came down, and the mist was under his feet.
* He sat on the cherubim and flew. He flew on the wings of the wind.
* And he made darkness his tent, his canopy around him, and dark water in the clouds of heaven.
* From the brilliance of his presence, clouds, hail, embers and fire dissipated.
* The Lord thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice.
* He sent arrows and scattered them. He multiplied lightning and terrified them.
* And springs of water appeared, and the foundations of the world were laid bare, at your rebuke, O Lord, at the blowing of the wind of your wrath.
* He sent from on high and took me. He pulled me out of the mighty waters.
* Save me from my fierce enemies and from those who hate me, for they have overcome me.
* They helped me in the day of my affliction, and the Lord was my support.
* He brought me out into the open; he saved me, because he chose me.
* The Lord will reward me according to my righteousness, and according to the cleanness of my hands he will reward me.
* For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not denied my God.
* For all his judgments are before my eyes, and his statutes have not departed from me.
* And I will be blameless before Him, guarded from my iniquity.
* The Lord will reward me according to my righteousness and according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyes.
* With the righteous you will show yourself righteous, and with the innocent man you will show yourself innocent. With the upright you will show yourself upright, and with the crooked you will make straight.
* For you save the humble people and humble the eyes of the proud.
* For you, O Lord my God, light my lamp and enlighten my darkness.
* Because through you I escape temptation, and through your divinity I jump over the wall.
* For the way of my God is blameless; the word of the Lord proves it, and he is the helper of all who trust in him.
* Who is a god other than the Lord? Or who is a god other than our God?
* God girds me with strength and makes my path blameless.
* He makes my feet like the feet of a deer and sets me on high places.
* He teaches my hands to fight, and makes my arms like a bow of bronze.
* You have given me protection and salvation, and your right hand has upheld me.
* Your discipline has straightened me to the end, and this discipline of yours only teaches me.
* My steps expanded beneath me, but my heels did not stop.
* I pursue my enemies and overtake them, and I do not retreat until I have annihilated them.
* I will make it so tight that they will not be able to stand and will fall at my feet.
* You girded me with strength for battle; you repelled all those who leapt upon me and threw them down beneath me.
* I have made my enemies turn their backs on me, and have cut off those who hate me.
* They cried out to the Lord, but there was no one to save them, and He did not answer them.
* I will crush them like dust in the wind, and make them thin like the clay in the squares.
* Deliver me from the strife of the people; you make me head over the nations.
* The people worshipped me whom I did not know; they obeyed me by hearing the call to prayer.
* Strange children have lied to me; strange children have become old and wandering in their ways.
* The Lord lives, and blessed is God, and let the God of my salvation come.
* God will avenge me, and subdue the nations for me. He has rescued me from my threatening enemies.
* You rescued me from those who rebelled against me, and from the unjust man you saved me.
* Therefore I will confess to you, O Lord, among the nations, and sing praise to your name.
* O He who has magnified the salvation of His kingdom, and has shown mercy to His anointed David, and to his descendants forever.
Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and at all times and to the ages of ages
Amen... Hallelujah
Psalm 18
To the end. A Psalm of David
* The heavens declare the glory of God, and the skies proclaim the works of his hands.
* A day broadcasts news to a day, and a night reveals knowledge to the night.
* Aren’t their sounds and words (i.e. the sky, day and night) sounds and words? Doesn’t their echo reach the ears?
* Behold, her voice has gone out into all the earth, and behold, her words to the ends of the world.
* He made his home in the sun, which is like a bride emerging from her chamber.
* Like a giant running on the road. It rises from one end of the sky and descends from another end, and there is no one to hide from its heat.
* The law of the Lord is blameless, converting souls; the testimony of the Lord is faithful, giving wisdom to little children.
* The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the hearts; the commandment of the Lord is bright, enlightening the eyes.
* The fear of the Lord is pure and endures forever. The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
* It is more delicious than gold and precious stones, and sweeter than honey with its honeycomb.
* And your servant keeps it. And in keeping it there is a great reward.
* Who can discern faults? Cleanse me from my secrets. And have mercy on your servant because of the foreign sins (i.e. the sins of his entourage).
* If you do not have power over me, then I will be blameless and cleansed from a great sin.
* The words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart will always be acceptable to you.
* O Lord, my helper and my redeemer.
Psalm nineteen
To the end. A Psalm of David
* May the Lord hear you in the day of sorrow; may the name of the God of Jacob help you.
* May He send you help from Jerusalem and support you from Zion.
* To remember all your sacrifices and to fatten your burnt offerings.
* May the Lord give you according to your heart and fulfill all your desires.
* We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of the Lord our God we will be glorified.
* The Lord will fulfill all your requests. Now I know that the Lord has saved his anointed.
* He answered him from his holy heaven. Salvation is accomplished by the might of his right hand.
* Some on chariots, and some on horses; but we will call on the name of the Lord our God.
* They stumbled and fell, but we rose and stood upright.
* O Lord, save the king, and answer us on any day when we call upon you.
Psalm twentieth
To the end. A Psalm of David
* O Lord, the king rejoices in your strength, and in your salvation he greatly exults.
* You gave him the desire of his heart, and did not deprive him of what his lips asked for.
* Because you have bestowed upon him the blessings of goodness. You have placed on his head a crown of precious stones.
* He asked of you life, and you gave him length of days forever and ever.
* His glory in your salvation is great, glory and majesty you bestow upon him.
* For you give him a blessing from generation to generation; you make him rejoice in gladness before your face.
* For the king trusts in the Lord, and in the mercy of the Most High he will not be shaken.
* May your hand triumph over all your enemies; may your right hand triumph over all those who hate you.
* You will put them (like wood) in a fiery oven when your face is revealed. The Lord will harass them in his anger, and the fire will consume them.
* Their fruit shall be destroyed from the earth, and their offspring from among the children of men.
* Because they planned evil against you, and made conspiracies, which they could not carry out.
* For you will turn them back on their heels, and for the rest you will also prepare retribution.
* I rise, O Lord, in your strength. We praise and sing to your strength.
Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and at all times and to the ages of ages
Amen... Hallelujah
Psalm 21
To the end. On the morning deer. A Psalm of David
* My God, my God, look upon me. Why have you forsaken me? The punishments which are due to my sins are far from preventing my salvation.
* My God, I cry out during the day, but you do not answer. And at night too, but not unconsciously.
* But you, O praise of Israel, dwell in Jerusalem. Our fathers trusted in you; they trusted in you, and you delivered them.
* They cried to you and were saved; they trusted in you and were not put to shame.
* As for me, I am a worm and not a man, a reproach to mankind and an abomination to the people.
* All who saw me mocked me, spoke with their lips, and shook their heads, saying:
* He trusted in the Lord, so let him rescue him and save him, for he is pleased with him.
* For it was you who drew me from the womb; you are my hope from my mother's breast. To you I was cast from the womb. From my mother's womb you are my God; do not be far from me.
* The distress is near, and there is no one to help me.
* Many calves have surrounded me, fat bulls have surrounded me.
* They opened their mouths at me, like roaring predatory lions.
* I am poured out like water, and all my bones are scattered; my heart melts like wax within me.
My strength is dried up like potsherds, and my tongue clings to the roof of my mouth; you have brought me down to the dust of death.
* Many dogs have surrounded me, and the company of wicked men has encompassed me.
* They pierced my hands and my feet; they counted all my bones; they looked at me and saw me.
* They divided my clothes among them, and cast lots for my clothing.
* But you, O Lord, do not deprive me of your help, hasten to help me.
* Save my soul from the sword, and my solitude from the hand of the dog.
* Save me from the lion's mouth, and my poor man from the horns of the unicorn.
* I will declare your name to my brothers, and in the midst of the church I will praise you.
* You who fear the Lord, praise Him; all you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him.
* Let all the descendants of Israel fear him.
* For he did not despise those who sought him, nor did he hide his face from me, but listened to me when I cried out to him.
* My praise is from you. In the great church I will confess to you. I will fulfill my vows before those who fear you.
* The poor shall eat and be satisfied, and those who seek him shall praise the Lord, and their hearts shall live forever.
* All the ends of the earth will remember the Lord and return to him, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him.
* For the kingdom is the Lord's, and He rules over the nations.
* All the fat of the earth ate and worshiped; and all who descended to the earth bowed before him.
* My soul lives for Him, and my offspring worship Him.
* They proclaim the Lord to the coming generation, and declare His righteousness to the people who will be born, whom the Lord has made.
Psalm twenty-two
Psalm of David
* The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
* He made me dwell in a green place; He raised me beside still waters.
* He restored my soul and led me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
* Even if I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.
* Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
* You have prepared a table before me, in the presence of my sorrow.
* You anointed my head with oil, and your cup makes me drunk like a drain.
* Your mercy will follow me all the days of my life, so that I may dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalm twenty-three
A Psalm of David. On the first day of the week (Sabbath Sunday)
* The earth is the Lord's, and all that is in it, the world and all who dwell in it.
* He founded it on the seas, and prepared it on the rivers.
* Who shall ascend into the mountain of the Lord? Or who shall stand in his holy place?
* He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood and has not sworn deceitfully to his neighbor.
* This one will receive a blessing from the Lord and mercy from God his Savior.
* This is the generation of those who seek the Lord, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
* Lift up your gates, you princes! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors, that the King of glory may come in.
* Who is this King of glory? The Lord Almighty, the Mighty Lord, the Lord Almighty in battle.
* Lift up your gates, you princes! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors, that the King of glory may come in.
* Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of Hosts, this is the King of Glory.
Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and at all times and to the ages of ages
