أصله من قرية البليوبونيز. نشأ على التقوى ومخافة الله. صار كاهنا. علّم ووبخ المنافقين. أحد هؤلاء قبض عليه الأتراك وحكموا عليه بالموت، لكنه كفر بالمسيح فأُعفي عنه. هذا دعا الأب لعازر الى الكفر بالمسيح، الا أن الاب لعازر زجره وردّه فحقد عليه واختلق الأكاذيب في شأنه.
قبض الأتراك على الاب لعازر وحاكموه. اعترف بإيمانه بالمسيح وتمسك به. حاولوا استمالته ففشلوا. عذبوه فلم يُجْدِ التعذيب فألقوه في النار أمام عيون كل أهل القرية. أمه كانت حاضرة فأخذت تشجعه على الثبات بالإيمان بالرب يسوع الى النهاية وألاّ يخشى الموت. استحال رمادًا. جاء مسيحيون وجمعوا رماده. حصل ذلك في الثالث والعشرين من شهر شباط.
